2/3/24: My sister and I came here for the 2:00 pm Harry Potter themed drag brunch. First time at the Improv and first drag brunch, too. Will we go back? Short answer: no! Nor will we be going to any future FlipPhone drag events, but we will go to another drag show. Parking: what a freaking nightmare. That alone ensures we will never return to Desert Ridge. Punctuality: I called ahead of time and was told the doors would open between 1:00 and 1:30 for the 2:00 show time. Arrived about 1:15, was told closer to 1:30. It then became 1:40. Doors did not open until 2:00. Food & drinks: misleading menu online and overpriced! When we looked at the menu online, it was all for the Copper Blues next door. Everything sounded good and was reasonably priced. BUT WAIT -- upon arrival, the menu was not from Copper Blues and the drink prices were not listed. That should have been our first red flag. The menus were themed for Harry Potter, which was kinda cool. When I asked our server, Shelby, he did confirm that we did not have to buy alcohol to meet the two-drink minimum. We could go with a bottomless $15 soda. With that, I thought the cocktails would be reasonably priced. WRONG! They were upwards of $17 and not even close to being worth that much. My sister ordered the croque madame loaded tots and I the lemon ricotta pancakes. The tots were plentiful for sure, but she only ate about half because she said they started to taste off & upset her stomach. When my meal was delivered it was clearly the chocolate chip pancake plate -- and those pancakes were flatter than a dollar bill. Shelby corrected the error and delivered the lemon ricotta pancakes. I wish I had taken pictures so you would see how badly presented the food was and how flat the 'cakes were. Entertainment: the Queens were all right but 1) I did not realize they would be lip syncing, and 2) I expected more dancing vs just gyrating, with arms all akimbo and legs kicking. Seems they were more interested in just taking your money vs actually performing. Maybe some of them were last-minute add ons to the lineup, or it was a new routine, but jeezy Pete, they were all off on the lip syncing. A toddler could have done better. Final say: no, we most definitely will never return to the Desert Ridge Improv or attend a FlipPhone event, but the experience has piqued my desire to attend more drag shows.

Cozy venue for some first rate comedy. Saw JB Ball & Brad Williams. Both were fantastic and enthralling. The opener was also amazing. Our group opted for the wings, nachos, & pretzel sticks to start. The Cajun dry rub was tasty & not too spicy. The take on carrots & celery were a little too avante guard for me - celery & carrots cut into weirdly thin chip shapes. The nachos were standard. The pretzel sticks & queso were amazing. Our mains were the Copper Burger, Bacon BBQ Burger, Steak Sandwich, & Poke Bowl. So, I realize this is the desert and the Poke Bowl was a gamble ... and it wasn't a grand prize payout unfortunately. The steak sandwich was lackluster at best, think where's the beef‽ But the burgers seemed to be pretty good. Fair warning, the buns were a purple gray color which I think means they were charcoal? I didn't see anything on the menu about the buns. With such a blase food review you may wonder why the five stars? Brenden. Our server was fantastic and willing to put up with my demanding requests. Seriously, CB Live management, give this guy a raise or some recognition or heck, BOTH!!

Went and saw a comic show and the line pre show @7pm walked up and and waiting in line a way's back and after 10 min or so talking and enjoying time in like with fellow fans, the line moved and got in quick an hour or so before the show. The asked for names the tickets purchased under and found and seated us very quick in the second row tables. With the massive influx of people seeing a show, the staff and bartenders were extremely fast, and well oiled. They did an amazing job getting all customers taken care of before and during the show. Wife and I are starting our 40's (depressing) and got our drinking in back in our 20's and 30's and do not drink anymore (two day recovery is not worth it), and worried about the two drink minimum, but staff said a soda is considered that, so it was great. This was our first show here and amazing how well it went. We are definitely coming back! Can't say enough good things about the staff here!!!! Thank you for a wonderful evening!!!!

I would not book an event here. Impossible to make your food and beverage minimum when there's slow service. If anything is mentioned about the slow/non existent service, then servers are supported by management in not serving tables at all. As a person attending as a patron, very frustrating when the event is around dinner time. A friend spent $2500 for a table at a charity event and 6 of us had to go to bar to get service. Our server barely came to the table. We had to ask different servers and managers for help. We cleared our own stacks of plates and glasses off the table throughout the night. There was a big miscommunication about the bill. It apparently shattered our server's fragile being when I suggested she be clear to everyone at the table about how it works. The horror. We didn't even say anything about the bad service. I know when I'm rude. I would say I was being serious and understandably so with the nature of the mistake combined with no service, but no means rude or disrespectful.

Fast forward a month, went back to support a show put on by my friends. Asked four different servers if I could order along with the other tables near me that sat after I did. Waited 40 minutes for service. GM says I'm lying. So let's say 20 minutes. Is that better? The same server recognized me from the charity event and must have over dramatically told her GM about her perceived rudeness of myself, at said charity event. Despite never having talked to this GM in my life, or her witnessing anything involving myself, or listening to any of my explanation of events, she pulled me away from the show and told me to never come back. If more time was spent on improving food and beverage service than the clueless and condescending GM talking to me about the tone the server said I used, they'd be in much better shape. I've worked in the service industry and if we get behind on service, we smile, apologize and make it right. And if someone voices their opinion about service or asks for it, we smile, we apologize and we make it right. This server is in for a rude awakening at another job where you've got to take some constructive criticism. The GM should be a little more aware of the situation before jumping to conclusions. She may think her staff likes her because she supports them. Sadly, in this case, it only enables staff to continue the poor service and affects the business and her job. This isn't the only comment or review about poor service they've received. If only the owner(s) knew how much money he/she/they is/are losing. Moved on to another restaurant where I wasn't judged by my appearance, warmly welcomed, served in less than 2 minutes of sitting and spent $180 on a delicious meal and tipped the staff $50 for...
