Let's start off by saying the parking is terrible, along with the location 👎
Next you'll notice the garage door that rolls down behind the bar, that's the front of the restaurant facing 12th Street, you get a view of the 99 cent only shopping center, and QT gas station.
Then you'll notice the tables with the chairs are in the middle of the restaurant, with the booths seating to the right side of the kitchen, and the kitchen is an open kitchen.
We were given menus when we sat down, with no silverware, and how to ask for silverware on the weather delivered to entrees.
On the table is a napkin holder, like the one you'd find in the fast food pizza joint, with ketchup and steak sauce.
When we ordered we ordered an appetizer from the waiter, he did not bring the appetizer until we sat there for 15 minutes, and then immediately brought out the entree after.
The appetizer did not come with pita bread even though we ordered baba ganoush. The waiter asked if we like pita bread for additional cost and then he decided after he served the pita bread, too give it to us on the house. Pita bread usually comes with baba ganoush, or hummus, and considering the price of the baba ganoush the pita bread should have come with it.
The food was okay, but not exceptional or even very good, except for the soup. the soup had too much turmeric in it, and not enough salt or pepper, it was very bland to say the least with the exception of the overpowering taste of the turmeric.
The waiters seem like he never served food in his life.
The restaurant looked clean, but it is in a terrible location with even worse parking!
I would only suggest going to this restaurant for takeout or ordering from GrubHub or Uber, that's if you want to pay for the overpriced food items on the menu, the restaurant is in North Phoenix on 12th Street and Northern not Scottsdale, and the prices should not be as high as they are considering the neighborhood the restaurant is in.
There are too many better Greek restaurants in Phoenix where you can get much better service, and that have a larger menu, and have waiters to actually care about their customers, and how they serve them properly.
I would not recommend this restaurant except for takeout, and even then you'll have to risk your life crossing 12th Street if you need to find a parking spot.
A very poor location for a restaurant in a bad neighborhood, that is riddled...
Read more7/24/24 - Short version: good food, friendly staff, spotless (and colorful!) interior. Only three issues I have: 1) parking lot was small and confined (although I think there was street parking available), 2) a 20oz Coke plastic bottle was $4.00, and 3) the pita was thin (doubtful it was made in-house).
Longer version: Palms is a relatively new place, maybe only a year or so old. The interior was very warm, open, and had plenty of colorful splashes throughout. The gentleman who served us was very friendly and fairly quick.
The hummus was whipped well and presented very well. We were disappointed in the pita, however, as it was pretty thin and tasted like store-bought goods, heated up. Both dishes we ordered were large portions and came out hot. The baklava was a nice end to the meal.
Would we return? Unlikely. Not because of the food, but because of its location. I am not a fan of their parking lot. It was small, and the parking area that practically backs out onto 12th St is not fun. The way people drive like bats out of he**, I don't like small parking areas, but I did not want to dock them a star because of my parking worries. :-) It was a month ago & I cannot remember if there was street parking on Winter Dr (south of the restaurant).
We did have sticker shock as well, when we noticed their plastic 20 oz bottles of Coke were $4 each; then we were a bit miffed when we asked for another one, only for him to say the plastic bottles were out so he gave us a can ... for $2.50. So the cans are cheaper Yay! but he gave us the more expensive bottles from the start. I don't recall there being prices listed on the menu, but maybe we just missed it.
Despite my apprehension with the parking lot, the expensive Coke, and the pita, I would still recommend Palms to anyone who lives in close proximity to...
Read moreThis is a must visit for anyone who’s a Greek food lover like us. We’ve visited and tried a vast array of Hellenic-style establishments all over the Valley, but the Palms Mediterranean Kitchen stands out as one of our top ten choices for dining and enjoying this gastronomy. The moment you walk in the place alive, whether full or empty, you feel a vibe of the vast openness, congenial spaciousness and happy brightness that exude comfortable casual. The air is alive and wafting of the aromas of unique Greek ingredients. Airborne scents of Coriander, Allspice, and Cardamom entice the senses, but when you begin the eating experience, you’ll fully appreciate and enjoy the Clove, Nutmeg and Sumac on your palate. While we contemplated what to dine from their extensive and diverse menu, we sipped on a non-Greek Arnold Palmer and Iced Tea. Having taken a little time (actually more than a little time) deciding, we were set to try something other than what is your typical Greek fare in most places of Gyros or Souvlaki! We decided on a delightful lunch that included their tender roasted and juicy chicken slowly cooked on a kátheto kreatoparagogís, served with rice, a Greek pilaf-style yummy yummy rice, and an incredibly aromatic and tasty garlic sauce. I had the Lamb Chop Plate with Pita that included five (count them, five) mouthwatering French-style cut lamb chops infused and seasoned to perfection with traditional herbs and spices, and sided with rice, and perfectly seasoned and prepared grilled vegetables – really, really good. We highly recommend this fab place to anyone who gets a hankering for excellent...
