In March of this year, we hired Bullfrog to clean the waterline tile at our spa. After their first pass, it looked like little had been done, and there was still noticeable calcium buildup. We asked them to come back, and on their second attempt, they caused significant damage to our spa. The spillover, front face, and inside waterline tile were scratched, and the top layer of our glass tile, which had been installed less than a year ago, was completely removed. What had once been a newly installed spa now looked aged and neglected. I have photos for reference. Initially, when we reached out to management, they were responsive. They came out to assess the situation, took full responsibility, and assured us that ownership would likely need to replace the damaged tile. At the time, I understood that mistakes happen, and I appreciated their willingness to correct it. However, from that point forward, it became increasingly difficult to get straight answers. We experienced numerous delays, and communication deteriorated—our calls went unanswered, and no plan of action was provided. After months of back-and-forth, we finally escalated the matter to ownership and managed to arrange for the tile to be replaced during the cooler months. A few weeks ago, we reached out again to finalize the plan, and we scheduled the work to begin last Monday. Unfortunately, when the crew came to drain our pool, it was a complete disaster. They rigged the drain equipment with PVC plastic tape, nearly flooding our side yard. I immediately contacted management, who assured me someone would come the next morning to secure the situation and move forward with the project. I also requested that a Bullfrog representative—management or ownership—be present on-site to oversee the crew, but no one responded to my emails, and no one showed up. The tile crew, which was outsourced by Bullfrog, returned the following day and, despite taking longer than expected, completed the job. The tile work looks fantastic, and the crew worked hard. However, since the project finished, I haven’t heard a word from Bullfrog. No one followed up, visited the property, or checked in to ensure everything was satisfactory. It’s also frustrating that we incurred additional costs, including $200 for draining and refilling the pool and $350 for tile cleaning, neither of which was offered for compensation after the mishap. In the past, Bullfrog had provided routine cleaning at our previous home without issue, but this experience has been completely different. The lack of communication, the runaround, and the poor follow-up have been disappointing. While the tile work was done well, the overall experience with Bullfrog’s management and ownership was frustrating. Because of this, I can only give the company two stars, solely for the quality of the third-party tile work.

I feel like it was a "Bait & Switch" endeavor. My 107 ft perimeter pool was bid at $770 to drain the pool ($200 plus 10 pump rental) and the rest to remove the 2" ring around pool calcium build up. When technician arrived he said that it would take approx 4 hours to remove the calcium build up and clean up. He "tested" the calcium build up and determined the build up was more extensive than anticipated so requiring more product to be used, thus increasing the bid by $210.00 (27% higher bid.) I complained to the company, because now I felt stuck, the pool was already emptied of water and they had a blurb in the original proposal that noted any additional treatment needed after the "testing" would be $107 ($1.00/ft, NOT $1.50/ft) so they did agree to give me $80 off the adjusted bid bringing the amount to $902. I still felt they placed me between a rock and a hard place so agreed to the up-charge. The technician proceeded and it took him 3 hours to complete the treatment (less time than he had told me at the start of the job) and cleanup. I complained again, because generally in my experience it is the LABOR, not the PRODUCT that makes up the majority of the costs. They said the price increase was do to the product costs. The company must have quite a mark up on their product to explain why it literally took just about 1 1/2 hours to remove the calcium deposit and 3 hours for the entire job that day. So BUYER BEWARE, you may be charged for quite a bit more than you sign on for. Side note: I did have 2 other bids from companies that would have used glass beads they both said my calcium build up was not that bad. Their bids were close to Bullfrog Pools bid, but I chose Bullfrog as it made sense to use a "sand like substance" instead of glass beads. The next time I do this I will buy my own pump and try out a product from Harbor Freight that they sell as a kit. The sad thing is that I still have calcium deposits on the hot tub spillway that they line item-ed that charge as $79 to treat the 3 foot section between the hot tube and pool (6ft linear +top)

I did my research! Bullfrog uses a PH balanced composite material to take the calcium deposit off the tile. It is much kinder to the tile and less likely to cause damage than the beads that are more commonly used. It will not harm my pool equipment and only takes a couple of cycles to be gone completely. My technician arrived right on time and within about an hour and a half he was done cleaning the tile and the surrounding area. I really appreciated his professionalism and expertise in all things regarding pool care. The photo of before the cleaning was taken 4 years ago. Before the cleaning it was much thicker and the white stripe was wider. Now as you can see, every speck of ugly white is gone! My tile is beautiful again. My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. The price was extremely competitive and as you can see in the photos, worth every penny!! I will be using Bullfrog services again, for sure.

I recently moved into my home just 3 months ago. Before moving in, I had a full professional inspection done on the pool and all of the equipment, and everything was in perfect working condition. Not a single issue was reported. Shortly after settling in, I made the unfortunate decision to hire this company for service—and that’s when everything started going downhill.

From the beginning, they recommended an acid wash and quoted me nearly $2,000. I was desperate to get the pool cleaned, so I agreed. It took an entire month to even schedule the service, and in that time, my pool got worse. When a technician finally showed up, he drained all the water and then claimed an acid wash wasn’t necessary, saying the pool was stained from a “chemical imbalance.” It was clear he didn’t know what he was talking about, and worse, he acted with a dismissive, lazy attitude. This was supposed to be a simple one-day job and turned into a two-day mess.

Their staff seems untrained and unqualified. I genuinely don’t believe they have the proper education or experience to be servicing pools. They contradict each other, give inconsistent recommendations, and seem more interested in pushing expensive services than actually helping customers.

Then came the biggest red flag: after working with them, I was told my salt system was now “broken” and had to be replaced—for a total of $400 ($200 for the part and $200 in labor). This was shocking, considering the pool passed inspection with flying colors just 3 months earlier. It felt like they were inventing problems just to charge me more. It’s become clear that their business model relies on taking advantage of customers who may not know better. It’s dishonest and predatory.

To top it all off, months later, someone wearing the company’s shirt began pounding on my door early in the morning. I hadn’t scheduled any service. He entered my backyard without permission, causing my dogs to go crazy. When I called the office, they acted clueless and said they didn’t know who it was—until I confronted the man and got his name, and only then did they admit he was one of their employees. No call, no text, no heads-up—just a random guy in my yard. Completely unacceptable.

This company operates with zero professionalism, zero communication, and zero integrity. They seem to be more focused on dominating the Phoenix market than providing any real service or value. I don’t know how they maintain such high reviews—maybe they invest more in manipulating online feedback than actually doing the job right.

I would strongly advise anyone to stay away from this company. My experience was filled with delays, lies, surprise charges, unprofessional behavior, and a clear lack of honesty. There are plenty of other companies out there, don’t fall into the trap of hiring this one just because of a polished website or high review count. Worst pool company I’ve ever dealt...
