Today at this so-called Animal Hospital, someone who goes by Doctor pointed out to me on an x-ray that within my dog, Leaf, exists a "'gas-like' bubble thingy". At no point did the Doctor present what is a now-ominous figure as any worthwhile threat to the well-being of my pet dog, Leaf. Once I suggested to the room that treatment done with and to Mr. Leaf during our visit could revitalize the typically-chipper Frenchtion who looks like a Pug. The professionals more-or-less concurred--they certainly did not suggest it as the worst option and one they could not possibly recommend. I blame myself for looking at the 'gas-like bubble thingy, seeing it but not considering the risks it poses inside an animal. Silly me. If only the severity of the looming situation had been emphasized as an issue that is more-or-less inevitable by the people in uniform.
Doc. then asked if I wanted the pictures slipped into an envelop and sent to other Doctors within the Animal Health sector for further review. I should have taken her up on it. 'Why waste everybody's time and resources,' I thought to myself. ' This was not determined the best course of action. What is even the point?
I go to pay.
I neglect to bring up the secondary financing option advertised on the business' website, which I had mentioned both by way of email and telephone. This non-profit (keeping them out of it) I had found and even contacted at around 3AM while I stayed up trying to get my dog to stay hydrated because he looked (and still looks) on the brink of death. This company reached out to the business and mentioned my interest. This happened when I was inside the building. But since I had enough to swing the balance, I don't mention it. I did not anticipate being able to afford today's services but it worked out.
Never one time did anyone at Palo Verde Animal Hospital offer me alternate payment options. And to be clear: This is not my typical expectation. Three idiots who hate one another working together within any customer facing position could have put together that it might be a courteous thing to bring up. More on this later.
I get a phone call later....it's the Doc.! Advising me to feed my dog boiled chicken and rice! This is basically the top answer listed on any website out there printing advice on what to do with a sick pet, aside from water consumption. Sage advice from the Doc.
My dog is no better than before. He is worse. I know whatever they put in him earlier needs to wear off. I know thanks to a late reminder on my way home to feed the dog chicken and rice. I boil some up and make some for myself excited to eat with my dog. Guess what: He won't eat.
I call to schedule an appoint for tomorrow if for some reason our plan of action we pow-wowed earlier went awry. I was offered an appointment time, I accepted it. It was then revoked as Doc. says wait 24 hours. At which point I was offered the opportunity to have X-Rays sent to hopefully adequate professional veterinarians (either of the two would be fine) for $320.
Adding that number to my bill would have put me at a grand total of, "BUT WHAT ABOUT THE FINANCING WE DISCUSSED OVER THE PHONE AND IN EMAILS." Instead I'm out all my usual cashflow to get me and my family through the holidays. My dog likely has pancreatitis. He will likely die. Nobody wanted to say it. Not sure why. It is either that or the thing Doc conveniently remembered in what will certainly be our last interaction, something foreign beneath the cloud that had been obvious the whole time--right there for us to see.
Cataclysmic failure on all fronts. Do...
Read moreHello! cat, dog, reptile and animal lovers!, This veterinarian office Palo Verde Animal Hospital is the truly the best, they treated me awesomely and my sick cat and now she's healthy again! They ran the necessary tests of course and very quickly drew up a plan of action. I followed the doctor's instructions and the next day my kitten was feeling much better and eating and drinking again. She had stopped eating and drinking because of something bad she ate possibly or something else, viral or worms idk, but i rubbed some medicine they prescribed on her ear and she ate and drank and got back to her playful self again quicky!, I was quite happy about that! I was very happy because I need this cat (its a 4 month old kitten) for anxiety, stress and high blood pressure, its really helping me in those areas a LOT! As a matter of fact ; I don't know why many other people don't own a cat. I love this cat, the cuteness level she has is just out of this world, beautiful! The world is soo violent, dangerous, traumatic and painful, while this kitty brings me unparalleled joy and happiness, she's a Godsend really!! You can have a hell day, and your animal will be there for you to at least take off the edge of life's challenges. Now the staff at Palo Verde Animal Hospital was simply the best. They treated me very very well. As soon as i got there, ahead of my appointment time, they rushed me and kitty into a room, to see the nurse and get ready for the doctor, the nurse was there right away then the vet and after examination and running some tests, the vet quickly drew up that plan of action with me and proceeded to make sure i understood it, and she gave my kitty some vet high protein diet treats and food to help her get the nutrition she needed right away. They gave her fluids through the skin to absorb to get past the dehydration the kitty had, the cat started to feel lots better and even started to eat again in the office. The vet also took into consideration my less than optimal circumstances and particular needs in this situation and accommodated me with great generosity, care and love and thoughtfulness for my kitty's safety, and my financial ability to have this cat treated there. I was thinking to go to another vet emergency hospital many miles away, but decided on this one because i live nearby and my car was broke down, and i'm certainly glad i did choose Palo Verde Animal Hospital, because i could not have chosen a better, more kindhearted, fair priced, and knowledgeable team of animal lovers to help me save my lil kitteh!! I fully recommend this place for anyone with a sick animal that needs treatment right away. The experience i had was top notch! I was very worried i might lose this juvenile cat and was even having bad dreams about my cat dying, but the Palo Verde team made sure that would not happen! I am very grateful to them and will be doing regular things there too like shots, deworming, spaying, and checkups. So I fully recommend this place to any and all animal lovers and pet owners in need of help for...
Read moreLate this summer we had discovered a feral cat camping out in our back yard. We worked for several weeks to befriend her. She had been pretty beaten up by the neighborhood cats and was using our dogs as a deterrent of neighborhood bully cats pursuing her. We finally caught her and promptly took her to the Humane Society to see if she was chipped. She was not.
The next few hours were spent trying to find a shelter for her. This was a futile course of action. We had come to the conclusion that this was our newest family member. We took her to a local veterinarian who was unable to see us that day but recommended Palo Verde Animal Hospital.
We went to the Palo Verde Animal Hospital and the friendly clerk at the lobby desk listened to my entire story involving this cat. She said she would be right back and disappeared into the back of the building. When she came back she immediately ushered me into an examining room and said a doctor would be in soon to discuss our options for our new cat. We had named her Allie (Allie Kat).
I watched with amazement as the staff took Allie from the pet carrier as it had taken much effort to get her in there. They handled her with care and soon had her trust. The doctor came in shortly after and examined her. We found out she was 7 months old, a female, and pregnant.
Doctor Krumins went over all our options and we determined we should abort the kittens, spay Allie and then take her home. Allie stayed for the night, scheduled for surgery the next day. As it turned out she was very malnourished and was further along in her pregnancy than originally thought. The doctor saved the babies during Allies spaying ... we now had a cat and 2 kittens. This caused complications.
We had scheduled multiple trips to be out of town and were not able to bring the trio home. We also were not ready to take on 3 new pets. Doctor Krumins worked it out so that Allie could stay there while recovering from her surgery and while the kittens matured.
Doctor Krumins and her staff were amazing. When we went to bring Allie home she was like a different animal! Healthy and acting like a kitten. You could have never guessed she was a feral cat. She was friendly, easily handled and no longer scratched or bit.
Allie had stayed with Doctor Krumins and her staff for 6 weeks. The babies were weaned and healthy and had new homes. We brought home a playful healthy Allie Kat to be our newest family member! Thanks are not enough for the people that made that happen.
Doctor Krumins and all the Palo Verde Animal Hospital staff are truly dedicated to the work they do. Their purpose and dedication in providing healthcare for their furry patients is unparalleled. Palo Verde Animal Hospital's doctors and staff outshine all other animal clinics we have used over the years. We highly recommend Palo Verde Animal Hospital as your pet's health provider. I guarantee your animals will be in...
