I have gone to the Ahwatukee location multiple times in the past, but the last two times have been such horrible visits, that I honestly do not want to come anymore. The food is amazing, but tonight's visit is where I draw the line. Our waitress was sweet, but was not attentive, we assumed this was due to it being a Friday night, however, after being there for over an hour we realized most of the waitresses/waiters just quickly go by the table and speed off. We were given soda that was flat, I waited for our waitress, but it had been some time. So when our mozzarella sticks arrived I decided to tell the lady who delivered them. She quickly grabbed ONLY my soda and not the person I was with who also had a flat drink. She proceeded to rush over hand me my "new" drink which was clearly just refilled and said, "let me know how that tastes" but proceeded to rush off again. It tasted the exact same...flat. Neither our waitress nor the other lady came by to check on us, so we continued to wait until our food arrived. I then notified the lady who delivered our meals about our drinks. She was the only one to actually help us, she admitted that it just needed to be changed and provided us with new drinks. I then ordered to-go onion rings, because my family is obsessed with their onion rings (not anymore) and we asked for a sauce on the side, which luckily, we checked the bag before we had left because there was no sauce in it. After we were given our sauce, we proceeded to wait for the bill which took over 15 minutes. I did not want to just leave without saying anything, so I told our waitress how disappointed we were with our last two experiences, so she called over the manager, Randy. Randy did little to no help with our terrible experience. He continued to put the blame on the "changes" going on and that there was an issue with their coca cola before I could even tell him that, that was not the drink that we ordered. It felt like he was not taking us seriously and was invalidating our experiences on a bunch of lame excuses. After taking my bill, which I felt should have at least had the sauce taken off of since that was not originally provided for us and that we had to request new drinks twice due to bags being flat. Instead, all he did was take my card charge me the full amount for my unhappy experience and only provide my date and I $10 for future purchases, which we will not be spending, especially at that location. He made us feel like our visit did not matter and that our bad experience is only worth $5 each, which can pay for what? One box of onion rings and sauce that the quantity is continuously getting smaller. Ridiculous. Randy claims he wants us to come back but sadly he did not put in much of an effort, so we will no longer be coming. You could tell we were not the only person having a bad experience, because the table next to us had gotten up before even ordering food due to how the night was going and the other table beside us was also talking about how the service being provided is not okay. It seemed that the bigger the table the more attentive the waitresses would become rather than giving equal...
Read moreI’ve gone to this zipps multiple times and I am a regular. This Zipps came off extremely RACIST. I wish I could give 0 stars for my recent experience.. I’ve never had such a poor experience. When I arrived, I bought one drink and proceeded to order the nachos. i was actually planning on buying a couple drinks because they are such an affordable price. I went to the restroom really quick and when I got back to my seat, I accidentally knocked my drink over and it spilled. i had only taken maybe 2 sips of my drink. I apologized to the bartender and she kindly offered me another drink. i said yes and while I was waiting for my drink, an older white man (maybe a manager) came up to looking mad and said: “so i heard you spilled ur drink. just so you know we’re going to have to charge you in full for another.” i was confused as to why when i had barely drank anything in the first one. he said “it’s not our fault you spilled, it’s your fault!” and then he walked away. he came off extremely rude.
I cancelled my entire order and paid them their 8$ Anyway, as i was about to leave, i looked around and noticed the same man was staring at me and giving me an evil look. I felt super uncomfortable being there. I spilled a drink, and mind you, it was a very small spill. I did not deserve that treatment over a simple mistake. i always tip, but this time I didn’t tip because it was the worst service I’ve received and I didn’t agree with their decision to charge me for the spilled drink. it also didn’t help that I was the only black person in the zipps and I personally felt targeted. Why should i have to pay for a drink i didn’t even drink. Are they really that broke ? Horrible customer service, manager was an ashle who seemed like he hated his life. I’ve worked in customer service for years and the treatment i received is never ok. No accommodating, no sincerity, just rudeness and evil looks. I had to leave after, as i felt super uncomfortable and like I didn’t belong. Don’t go to this location. The downtown one is much nicer, better food, better drinks, better service. And if you’re black, expect to feel shunned. I guess it depends on the manager who’s there that day. I won’t...
Read moreI really, really wanted to like this place because I just moved to the neighborhood and it's within walking distance, but after a horrible experience I will never visit again. This was my first visit to any Zipps.
I went in with my girlfriend and we each ordered a beer (one 32-oz for me and one 16-oz for her). Since we were just a little hungry, we decided to order a single order of fish & chips to share.
When the food came out and we received what looked to be two full orders. I asked my server (Jordan) why we received two when I only asked for one order. According to the manager there is a split charge automatically applied of $2 which was not communicated verbally to me by the server, but is apparently noted in super tiny print at the bottom of the menu. This charge includes providing an extra side which I didn't want as we weren't that hungry. This charge does not apply to appetizers for some reason, only entrees??
The manager explained the charge exists "so that customers don't take advantage of the low prices". I'm sorry, but any business from a customer is good business and I've never seen the parking lot of this establishment full. If a $2 extra charge for people sharing an entree is what makes or breaks your business then your prices are not set correctly to obtain the necessary profit margin. I have 3 years of restaurant management experience and this just seems ridiculous.
I requested a side of chipotle mayo with the fries and received Thousand Island dressing instead. Our waters were never refilled by the server when obviously empty near the edge of the table, the onion rings were very hard, and the fries we received were cold. The fish was the only redeeming part of the meal which was actually quite delicious!
In an attempt to rectify the situation, the manager offered a free side salad. The salad we received had wilted lettuce and did not taste fresh. I would have been happier if the $2 split charge was just removed rather than giving me extra food I didn't...
