Kyushu Ramen has great food and awesome service! The bathrooms are very clean and well-maintained. My family and I have had multiple visits and the food and service never disappoint. The server we had was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. On to the food... Takoyaki - This dish is making my mouth water thinking about it! It's crunchy on the outside and creamy and unctuous on the inside. The bonito flakes on top were so fresh, you could actually see them flexing back and forth because of the heat! Salt & Pepper Calamari - The calamari was a rad chewy, but the exterior batter was crunchy and flavorful. It was garnished with diced peppers and green onions. The dipping sauce was flavorful as well. Kyushu Karaage - This dish was very flavorful, but a little too heavy on the salt for me. It was almost like the chicken, batter, and sauce were all salted. It had a great flavor though. The eel sauce and aioli were drizzled on top. I would have preferred these on the side. Soup Dumplings - We tried almost all of the different varieties of soup dumplings. I can honestly say these are some of the best soup dumplings I’ve had locally. The dough was just the right amount of thickness to hold up, but not too thick. My favorites by far were the Crabmeat and Pork soup dumplings. The only two complaints I have is that the Squash Pork and Shrimp soup dumplings and the dipping sauce on the table were a little bland. Next time, I will bring my own chili flakes in oil. Yaki Udon - My wife ordered shrimp and I ordered beef on a previous visit. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the sauce was very flavorful. The noodles had the perfect amount of sauce, not too much or too little. The veggies were fresh and crisp. I definitely recommend...
Read moreWhere to start? As I walked into this restaurant, I had a feeling I was not going to get a full authentic Japanese experience. One, the restaurants 'Kyushu' was written using the wrong japanese character. Besides the point, I was greeted by a very welcoming hostess followed by the waitresses. The problem was definitely not them but the menu itself.
A little background about myself. I am Japanese for more than I can remember and being around everything japanese it is very very hard to fool me. The problem came when I ordered the restaurants mazesoba ramen, which is a ramen dish without broth. After quickly receiving my meal, I noticed soup being in my dish... We questioned them thinking it was a misunderstanding. They told us that they will recreate it and bring it out to us free of charge. Good on them. Instead they brought out a completely different dish called yakisoba (stir fried noodles) In essence, they pretty much grilled the noodles. Point being the restaurant does not know what a mazesoba is as opposed to a yakisoba. To a Japanese person it is like serving me a hotdog when instead I ordered a hamburger.
Moreover, the other dishes that they served such as the black garlic tonkotsu ramen my husband got was watery in taste and the noodles exploded in amount. Even my husband who eats plenty was too much for him.
My advice, remove what you don't know how to make off the menu and focus on your core dishes. You cannot fake authentic cuisine which this restaurant is not. It is like a wolf in sheep's clothing. Overall, staff was great, decor was good, but the food is your...
Read moreKyushu Ramen and Dumpling House is a restaurant that's clearly passionate about fresh, flavorful food. Every dish is crafted in-house, and it shows.
We started with the Spicy Pork Soup Dumplings and steamed pork buns, which were both delightful. The dumplings had a good meat to dough ratio and were full of flavor. For our drinks, we enjoyed a classic hot green tea and a rich brown sugar milk bubble tea.
For my main course, I ordered the Pork Tonkotsu Ramen. The bone broth was incredibly rich and creamy, and the soft-boiled egg was cooked to perfection. My husband was equally impressed with his Samurai Steak, which was expertly seasoned and cooked just right, served with plenty of fresh vegetables and fried rice.
The only hiccup was the service, which was a bit too attentive. We felt a little rushed, with constant check-ins and refills every five minutes. The staff even started to box up our leftovers before we were done with our meal, which made us wonder if we were overstaying our welcome.
Overall, the food at Kyushu Ramen and Dumpling House is outstanding and clearly made with care. It's a great spot for a delicious meal, as long as you don't mind a very fast-paced...
