I used to eat at Mamma Lucia’s multiple times a week back when they were in Northway Mall. In between hanging out at the arcade, the cheap movie theater and the video game exchange store. I didn’t realize at the time that I was wait top tier pizza, I just knew it was good pizza at a good price. I moved out of PA decades ago and quickly began missing the top tier pizza places like this. Now, this place is a MUST STOP every time I’m back in town and I can say with full confidence that the pizza tastes as good, if not even better, than I remember it in the early 90’s. The crust comes out crispy, the cheese melty, the sauce flavorful and in just the right amount. I would always get a thin slice and a Sicilian slice, the 3rd slice pictured here is for my wife. The thin slice folds perfectly and the tip is still firm, no floppy pizza here. The Sicilian isn’t just “thicker bready pizza”. They know better and increase the sauce amount to make sure it’s not a dry piece of bread like you get when a lot of places try Sicilian. The crust also has a nice crispy bottom with soft and chewy bread in the middle. Overall, I’d put this pizza up against the best I’ve ever had. It’s that good.

Sicilian with a salad on a Sunday. Have you ever had a moment when you taste something so good and you are transported to your childhood and you remember what the joy of eating a pizza in a pizzeria was like as an eight year old? I am just hoping you can and I hope you will find it at Mama Lucia’s like I did. The pizza was so fresh and the dough so soft, sauce so balanced, cheese so good and the pepperoni just the perfect resistance. Little crispy bits on the edges. Just a great Pizza! Oh and the salad was good too.

Perhaps not the purest most authentic expression of pizza, but this is one of my all-time favorites in Pittsburgh if not the world. Parking back to my youth growing up in Pittsburgh and going to the old Northway Mall. There’s Sealion pizza is perfectly gooey and chewy and there’s sauce is nice and Tangri. Was great to eat here again for the first time in decades

Tonight we are in for a treat. We are ordering a large with pepperoni and 1/2 mushrooms. Neapolitan or NY style of course! I’ve been a fan of Mamma Lucia’s since I moved to Wexford 12 years ago. I usually stop in for my usual cold slice (or 2) of their pepperoni NY style pizza but tonight my family and I are ordering takeout! $31 for a large (18”) pepperoni, 1|2 mushrooms and an order of their fantastic garlic knots is rather reasonable! Normally we are in the $40 range when we order takeout from other local places. Great pizza is also good cold and theirs hits the spot hot or cold. To be honest I was spoiled as a kid working in a pizza shop in Somerset, PA. They also featured a fantastic NY style pizza. Some nights after closing we would snack on the pizza that was sliced to sell as individual slices. Mama Lucia’s takes me right back to that place and all the fond memories I have of the place (Frank’s Pizza on Main St.) and the people. Keep on keeping on Mamma Lucia’s! You do something magical and certainly appreciated! My wife is picking up our order, but I’ll see you soon for my usual cold slice(s) of...

I am a pizza fanatic and I have lived in the Pittsburgh area most of my life. This is it folks, the best pizza in Allegheny County. If you are in the mood for artisanal, wood fire ovens, etc. that's really a different category, and there are plenty of those places around, but for authentic NY style / Neapolitan, nobody else comes close. When I think of all the times I ordered pizza from somewhere else... how could I have been such a fool? Costs a couple bucks more than the local chains, AND IS WELL WORTH IT. I can't wait to try some of the other pies, but their plain Neopolitan is just heavenly. They also sell it by the slice which is a rare treat in this area.

Update: I tried the Sicilian and it's EVEN BETTER! Amazing texture and flavors. So happy I found this place. If you love pizza you owe it to yourself...
