After years of passing this by as I roamed the plaza, I felt the urge to see what was beyond the doors. I didn’t know anything about the bakery/restaurant prior to opening the doors. I really wanted breakfast but expected I had missed it and the menu would be lunch. To my surprise they were “still serving breakfast!” I ordered a build your own omelet feta, ham, mushrooms spinach tomato! Fresh and fluffy with a side of fruit! Yummy! Service was great and meal was delivered to my table in literally minutes.
Now I am contemplating selecting a scrumptious dessert to feast upon later! I cannot believe that I have been missing out on this little gem of a restaurant/bakery!
UPDATE - Tuesday May 13: My extremely positive visit the prior week, prompted me to stop in on Tuesday morning after PT. I ordered the same breakfast as I did tonly a couple of days prior and the experience was completely different. They cook prepared something I did not order and the server delivered it to my take without noticing. I tried to get his attention, but he didn’t acknowledge me. Another customer at the table beside me saw that I was using a cane and asked me if I wanted her to advise the person at the counter of their mistake. She went up to the counter and explained that they brought the wrong order. I waited 10 minutes as they waited on the line of customers at the counter hoping that they would come to my table to address the issue. But, when I realized they were not going to come and address the issue, I carried my plate to the counter myself. (Mind you that I had left a decent tip) I told them that they brought the wrong order to me. I had ordered an omelet.(and I verified in the emailed receipt my order) Not to mention that the guy who took my order neglected to add the fruit in place of the toast. (That I didn’t even address) No apologies… just wanted to know the order number.. the two of them discussed it and motioned that they would take care of it. 10 minutes later I received my order. It was good but not as good as the fluffy omelet I had on Thursday. Still okay though. Very sad that a restaurant is so dependent on who is working. There was only one woman on Thursday who did everything… and with a pleasant smile and joyful disposition. Yesterday’s service was so poor, I would have made it zero stars if it were not for my first experience. Yesterday there were no smiles, no inviting conversation, no pleasantries… the guy who took and delivered my initial order might be great in the kitchen, but he surely should not be serving customers. Not sure now if I will bother to...
Read moreMy friends and I would attend either the Wexford or Cranberry locations for our monthly brunch. Our last visit to the Wexford location was disappointing to say the least. Servings were small and the food was mediocre at best. The French toast was dry, the crepes had literally 5 blueberries and 8 slices of strawberries, but the pancakes were decent. We had also ordered a cake ahead of time to celebrate a friend's birthday. When we went to cut into it, it was frozen. What was worse was, I assume it was the manager, yelling at staff and being rude to customers. A friend was in line and over heard this manager telling a customer that she could not remove an orange juice from his order because she had already asked if he wanted it or not. It was a bottle of orange juice rather than a glass and the customer didnt realize. To top it off we were asked to leave to make room for others to sit....and we could see that there were 2 people needing to sit and there were 3 other seating options available. Now, there are many of us in our group, so that's 8 people buying meals and drinks, and we always purchase some pastries to go. That's a couple hundred dollars of business. But our business will now go elsewhere. Very sad. We have enjoyed many a meal at this establishment over the past 2 years and it was our favorite place to go. We all agreed this was our last time there and we will take our business elsewhere to an establishment that appreciates there...
Read moreI'm incredibly disappointed I did not take pictures of the dishes. We ordered the Crab cake benedict and filet benedict.
As someone who loves both crab cakes and eggs Benedict, I had high hopes for the Crab Cake Benedict Breakfast,. Unfortunately, Bartram House Bakery missed the mark in several key ways.
To start, the crab cakes themselves were underwhelming. Instead of the fresh, flaky texture you’d expect, they were overly bready, spongy and lacked that signature crab flavor. The seasoning was extremely high, and there was a noticeable greasiness that made them feel heavy rather than indulgent.
The poached eggs were not terrible. The hollandaise sauce, usually the highlight of a Benedict, was a little sour, which clashed with the delicate nature of the crab rather than complementing it. The potatoes were also not seasoned and undercooked on both dishes.
The filet benedict was quite a bit bland. No seasoning on the steak whatsoever, but it was tender and cooked nicely with consistently-cooked egg.
Presentation, however, on both dishes was nicely done.
The staff was friendly, and the coffee was good with a unique Smokey flavor. Unfortunately, the main dish just did not deliver. At a higher price point, I expected much better quality and execution.
Final Verdict: 4/10. A promising idea that fell flat in flavor...
