So we decided to do a night out with friends after it being a long time since we had hung out. Mind you this place would be over an hour drive for them, and about 40 min. for us. But we wanted to try something different and this place looked fun. We arrived for our 7:00 reservation right on time, and walked in to a huge line?? Waited in line 15-20 min FOR A RESERVATION??? And a hostess yelling at everyone in the line just to see if everyone there had reservations. Never the less, it looked great in there and everyone was excited to try the taps, and loved the whole concept of the tap card. We finally get through the line, the lady screams directions at us, and says our table still needed bussed, and tells us to go ahead and wait with drinks by the taps. So we head over there and get some drinks which were all pretty good, though very pricey for canned and bottled items. But still we were looking forward to the night and the flights. We realize it’s been another 15 - 20 min, so one in our party goes up to check at the front desk - which is clear at this time. The hostess asks how she can help, and my friend says “um- we are already here waiting for our table”. She says oh im sorry I forgot about you guys yes your table is ready. So we head to our table. No one ever comes over, clears any glasses, etc. We decided to start ordering. Two flights are ordered and we decide to put in our app- because at this point people need some food too after a few drinks! We hit order and it says the kitchen closed! Right at that time a waitress walks up and says they are overwhelmed and have closed the kitchen temporarily and to give them 15 min, but they can put drinks through. So kind of crazy - but we were like ok as long as it’s temporary. The flights come, no one has returned or taken any glasses still other than to drop off our flights. We keep trying to put our food order through, eventually about 15-20 min later it goes through. Mind you we only ordered the chips and dips- that should take nothing to put together and bring out. So we decide we need to immediately put our dinner orders in right after too because we figure it’s going to take some time. Drinks are half gone, still no food, and people are getting a bit tipsy and hungry and need a bit of food. At this point it’s about 8:20 pm. We suddenly hear a voice yelling clear from the other room over the extremely loud music. We here him say “the only chef” but can’t hear anything else. We figure maybe they are apologizing for the wait. After a long rant we can’t hear, a waitress steps over and says the cook has closed the kitchen and they will reimburse for any food we didn’t get. Which again was NONE. We sit there not knowing what to do, no one comes around to help us or see if we want our bill. We never see a manager or anything!! And my friend can’t finish her flight now because she’s had no food! Finally we grab the one waitress we’ve seen, ask about even getting some chips (our app) so drinks weve purchased can be finished as no one has eaten for many hours but yet had several drinks- - because honestly who can’t throw at least the chips and dip on a tray! She just keeps saying she has no idea, it’s not her fault (which we understand -but also yeah please do something!) , and she can’t comp any drinks, etc. Never tried to help, never took any glasses, never grabs a manager, etc. Finally she throws her hands in the air and snaps I’ll take her flight off her bill. She stomps away with our card, returns. We check it, flight is still on it. Wait 5 minutes, she walks past says oh hey can I have your card once more, returns and the flight is now off. We never see anyone again, never hear anything. So we finally just leave- and mind you still leave a 15% tip.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I doubt we will be back, which is a shame. Ruined our whole night. Grabbed Mexican at the local restaurant across the street which was yummy. Terrible...
Read moreI was meeting two others here and arrived first. Whole place was empty, and that should have been my first red flag. We sat at a high top next to the bar. Now they have the little tablets on the table that you order from. Our food came out timely enough - remember no one else was there. However, I ordered a mimosa flight, and watched the ticket go over to the bar. If there was a bartender, I never saw them. The last person in our party arrived and also ordered a flight. We now see both tickets at the bar. I am seeing the host run our food. The owner - I assume he was the owner or a manager - was sitting at a high top in the corner, but when I ordered my drink I am unsure where he was. Our wings came out and were pink in the middle. The pretzel bites and the cheese was good, I will admit. The food was hot, which would have been a major issue if it was not or took forever as we, again, were the only table there. After some time, my friend went around the bar (on the other side not behind the bar) and grabbed our bar tickets to see the times on them, we were going to get them taken off, as we were ready to be done (this is after being there about 30 minutes). The manager/owner came out from the sun room when he saw her go get the drink tickets. He came over and we explained that we no longer wanted these, and that we were done. He ran to the back into the kitchen and came out telling us that someone back there - I do not know if the bartender was back there or what - said that these were made. We were baffled, as we literally did not have any evidence of the drinks in front of us, and he watched my friend grab the tickets off the machine. There was never any one behind the bar. He tried explaining again that "they were made", however they very clearly were not. He did remove them from the bill and we departed. I will not be back. Went for the cheesecake / fall cocktails flights, did not get either. Personally we wanted to give the place a shot, we do not always go off of the reviews as we know most people only complain if something negative happens, but I will testify, this place lives up to the reviews it has. I cannot comment on the service, as we only dealt with someone who I assumed was a host? He sat us, but also ran our food, but spent all of his time at the host stand. He was polite and did a good job explaining the process...
Read moreA portion of this review has been tainted by my own tardiness — I had arrived late in the evening, after the dinner rush. Therefore, some menu items were unavailable. I view this not as a criticism of the establishment, but rather my own lack of foresight. Additionally, it could be suggested that the absence of certain items only underscored their quality and popularity. You snooze, you lose; as the old adage goes. Now, on to the dishes I was timely (and lucky) enough to try: The chicken wings were served with a house buffalo sauce — a standardly spicy fare. Herein lies the surprise: I tried the plain wings and was stunned by the crispy, perfectly-secretly seasoned serving. Honestly, I tend to rely on sauces to fulfill my forays into The Wing. But these simple, reserved little drums and flats sent my tastebuds on a trolley ride of flavor. I don’t know what it was; other than delicious. Following the requisite appetizers, I tried the house burger. Again, another success of salivary satisfaction. Perfectly cooked, seasoned, charred, toasted, etc. I hadn’t had a good burger in a restaurant for many months, and this was a welcome reprieve from the mediocrity I’d come to find among other so-called quality establishments. For desert, a cheesecake flight that satisfied all around; from the sweet to the savory, the tart to the tangy. My table was thrilled. All of this is notwithstanding to their innovative method of inebriation: what they call the Pour-Your-Own experience. You get a house “credit card”, you go to the enormous wall of beers, ciders, and wines; then simply select your drink of choice. The portion is allotted and you are free to partake. This is such a great way to try innumerable lagers, ports, IPA’s, wines, and on and on. Rather than feel you’ve wasted money on some dart-throw of a draft, you can easily tempt your palate on the offers at hand. It takes the guesswork and guilt out of experimentation and leaves you only with excitement and appreciation. This is easily a Destination in and of itself. From food to drink, service to satisfaction, Tapville Social is ushering in a new, self-fulfilling take on standard nights out. Just be sure to get there early before the place...
