I don’t want to give this Waffle House a bad review. Just wanted to leave my experience today 08/23/25. I Walked in about 5:55 pm and no one was there. Walked in and a lady down at the far end of the restaurant looked up and mumbled welcome. There was a young man sitting there also that appeared to be resting his head on the counter. I made a comment that they must be taking a little nap and the lady said something like they deserved it. She said sit anywhere and I took a seat. They both got up and started moving and I ordered 2 black coffees, she said she would need to make some and I said that would be great. Two more customers were seated and she took their orders, by this time my husband had come in and joined me. She stood down by where the young man was making preparations to start cooking and never served the coffee. When we finally asked if she could get the coffee she responded that she was busy at the moment. By now they had a table of four that had entered. We ordered scrambled eggs with cheese, raisin toast and hash browns on one and cheese grits on the other. When she finally served the food I went to move my plate and it was very cold. My husband took one bite of his eggs and said these are just lukewarm, I tried mine and they were the same. We both said we will deal with it but he took a bite of his hash browns and they were completely cold and so was the toast. My grits were hot but nothing g else was. The lady continued to stand down by the young man cooking so I had to get up and ask her if we could speak to her a minute, she reluctantly walked to our table and we told her the food was cold except for the grits. Her reply was that could not be possible that she served them right away, I said well you need to try them because they are cold. Her attitude was not what we have always experienced at that Waffle House. With that we just said you know we will pay you for the coffee and find another place to eat. She took the food and walked away, we went to the register to pay for the coffee and she didn’t respond, the young man cooking came to the register but refused to let us pay. I highly expect that the food being served on a plate that was ice cold had something to do with the food being cold snd the fact that she did not serve it right away. Her attitude from the very beginning wasn’t good. We eat there often and have never experienced this kind of...
Read moreI had been craving a big Waffle House breakfast for weeks and finally got my chance to dive into one on a Wednesday around 2pm after the lunch crowd had cleared. As it turned out I was the only patron in the restaurant when I arrived. The only person in sight was the chef, who took my order. Eventually he yelled to the back for some help and later some other folks came out. Everyone was super nice and accommodating to me. Once the chef (I use that word intentionally) was done preparing my order, he left for the day as did one of the servers, so I must have hit a shift change. Amazing even for a WH, my order was plated all at the same time (usually one is half way done with their waffle when the eggs arrive). Everything in my All-Star breakfast meal was superb! Hash browns (SS&C) were burned on the top for that crispy outside and soft and wonderful on the inside. Eggs, bacon and waffle all cooked perfectly. If I was forced to knit pick, I could only say that half the toast was slathered in too much butter (or butter type substance as the case may be).
I can't imagine why the health rating is 92.5 here as the place looked very clean. I did observe the chef delivering my food, getting my syrup to me, cleaning the grill and prepping food all with the same gloves on, so that would be a deduction but everything else I saw was top notch.
The second crew that came in were very polite to customers but maybe a little less so to each other. There was no standing around. Everyone was cleaning or prepping if they weren't serving a customer - even my (new) server who spent some time on her cell phone while still working. She acted manager-like even though her name tag didn't indicate such, so perhaps she was...? Either way, I wanted for nothing and all other customers who'd come in after me were well served. The food was excellent (some of the best WH I've ever had!) and quickly prepared. And the ambience was traditional Waffle House, minus the unnecessary shouting of orders with only 3 customers in the building - which was welcomed. Nice peaceful brunch. :-)
My experience was drastically opposite of those who've rated this place poorly. 5 stars is appropriate for my visit, which I will surely repeat next time I'm in the area! Thanks to the crew of this store for helping me cure my WH Jones in the best...
Read moreStore # 1157 Police Report Filed Let me begin. By stating that I am truly compassionate and well aware of the "karens" that most retail and service employees are confronted with. That's why I generously tip every where..... including McDonalds. With this said, on Sept 5th I experienced a situation that I found quiet disturbing. After being one of only three customers and waiting (approx 10 min) for one of the six employees to take my order... I was informed that it would be "21 minutes before anyone would take my order." So I stated I would be back and I left. Upon my return, I observed the aforementioned two customers still there when I sat at a table. After several minutes, my drink order was taken. Whereupon I recieved my coffee, I requested a spoon. After at least 10 minutes, I went to the end of the counter and helped myself to a spoon. At that time an employee (Sid the manager) took the spoon from me and stated that "if I ever walked behind the end of the counter again, he would hurt me." At that time, the other customer sitting at the counter with her daughter expressed her disbelief in his statement. At that time he immediately informed her that the same applied to her and that if she walked around the end of the counter, he would hurt her too. When I ask if he was serious.... he repeated himself no less than three more times. At this point, I phoned the local police dept and informed the operator I had been threatened and would like to file a complaint. Prior to the officer arriving, Sid (?) evidently departed via the back door. Whereupon the officer arrived, the other customer (her name and contact info can be provided) and I filed a complaint with the officer. Though I had yet to recieve my order, I paid my check, tipped the waitress and left. Point of interest; after observing several other critical postings on this location in the small town of Pineville, NC..... I suggest management get involved before the word is out and business in this...
