Taqueria Aquililla — Restaurant in Pinole

Hungry for brunch and just happened to see this taqueria on my walk near Sports 5. So I walked in, assesed the food, smell, look, cooks and cleanliness. Met all my standards and gave it a try. In essence, I would call this 'old school' traditional style Mexican food. Simple. I ordered the chile verde plate and 1 tace de buche. Both items were not heavy salted 👍🏼. You get the seasoning in the salsa. The green chile salsa was delicious, not heavily salted either. Then I ordered a lb. of carnitas to go. They give you the "fixings": chile, cilantro, cebolla / onions, and chopped tomatoes and tortillas...gotta feed the hubby 🥰. I recommend...

There are too many excellent Mexican food restaurants around to waste any time here. The service was fine. The walls were in great need of paint. The inside appears to need some surface cleaning and some TLC. I ordered corn tortilla quesadillas to go. There was meat, lettuce, pico de gallo , and a tiny bit of cheese. They were not folded in half, but they were stacked on top of one another so two corn tortillas per quesadilla, The cheese was not melted. The tortillas were not fried or crispy at all. I’m really bummed, this place has 4.2 stars and the food was absolutely horrible! Everything I got was very very cold like it had been sitting out for hours. And we live 5min away via car, not enough time to cool. It was so cold my cheese didn’t even melt! My wife’s burrito was dripping all over the bag and almost mush because of how wet it was.
