If I could give zero, I would! Quoted from a friend of mine.
“Did we have an experience that has me so baffled. I do wish it would have been a good experience to share since it used to be one of our go to spots.
Since speaking with the manager did zero good. We figured sharing publicly was the next step. We share this information with hopes that the issue will be addressed.
We are out to eat in Pittsburg as a family and made a simple request to have the pasta replaced with mashed potatoes due to a food allergy. The waitress applogized before delivering the news that this wasn't an option. We then asked about substituting fries or even no pasta and add on a side of potatoes (fries or mashed) and we're told no again. So of course we ask for a manager, who sadly said no with the following reasons:
We put a lot of thought into our menu and do not want to change it for you. The cost is to much. There are other options he could have on the menu.
He offered for us to order steak, which Levi can't eat he chokes on it. He offered for us to order fish which Levi can't have. (Turns out we were right and it was the only option on the menu he could safley eat.) Then the manager said it was "intresting" that he can't have fish but can have shrimp. Yes, as a mom who has fought tooth and nail to keep this child healthy and alive I am irritated at this point. We are talking about potatoes here. It took more self control than you can imagine not to say something to him. He is apparently a manager with a medical degree and takes care of the chrinocally ill. I am sure that he should have an opinion on what someone is and isnt allergic to but I didn't and I am glad I was the one he was speaking with. I can only imagine how the others at our table would have reacted.
Instead I asked if it would be an inconvenience to give him only shrimp on a plate with no sides. This said manager proceeded to say because of my attitude he would rather not give us any substitutions BUT he would allow only shrimp for $24.
My responses: I never asked for a discount. I offered to pay for a side. I am trying to feed my child without having to worry about an allergic reaction. This isnt about money. I am not sorry for my frustrations. We eat out all over the United States with zero issues. This is literally the first place I have EVER had issues. Fish and shrimp allergies are completely different.
He leaves I proceed to tell the adults at the table about the conversation and it was decided that we should leave. We flag down our waitress and request the bill. The manager zeroed out the drinks & appetizer that we had ordered. Which we did not request again this was not about the money. We tried to have her charge us and she was extremely flustered and did not want to go back to her manager. SHE SHOULD NEVER BE AFRAID TO GO TO HER MANAGER. I felt so bad for her, to work for someone who makes you feel thay way is unimaginable. I've been in her shoes before with an upset customer and I remember how the manager took care of them they definitely did not make the situation worse. This is such a disappointment.
We went to another restaurant, actually a new one for us and they served Levi safely without a care in the world and never once questioned or refused why we needed substitutions.
It's safe to say we are breaking up with Brick + Mortor in Pittsburg, KS. I will never step foot in that...
Read moreI can't begin to express how poor the service was just trying to get a table. We have given Brick & Mortar so very many chances to get it right! From their rough start, when they were a brand new restaurant in Pittsburg two years ago and we had to hunt someone down to seat us and their menu items were overpriced, to our last experience today when there was no hostess at the hostess station. The out-of-town couple waiting to be seated ahead of us asked us if it was a good place to eat and we said "'yes although the service was only good about 75% of the time". They asked for menu recommendations and we gave them several. When the hostess came to the hostess desk, she seated that couple then came back to the hostess desk multiple times looking at her list of reservations, grabbing silverware and menus, walking away and setting tables for previous reservations, never once looking at us, acknowledging that we were standing there waiting, or addressing us to let us know there would be a wait time and she would get us seated as quickly as possible! There was zero effort to make us feel welcome much less that we were there to spend our money to help keep them in business. The hostess talked to other people who walked in the door after us but blatantly ignored us, even clearing tables while she was setting other tables for reservations. After being ignored for over 10 minutes standing by the front door when there were empty tables, we asked to be seated and I said that it wasn't right that we weren't even being acknowledged, much less being told why there was a delay. The hostess then said it wasn't our business. The female manager (last name White) said they had been really busy and that we were being unkind. She said she would give us a chance but that we would probably not be happy there. My husband challenged her statement and asked her if she was refusing us service and she said "yes it would be best if we went somewhere else" and that she stood behind the hostess' complete inability to talk to us, look at us or give us good service, that she was only 16 and she was doing a great job. We asked for the owner's name and phone number or email address. She refused to give us any name or contact information. We like to keep our dollars local, Having grown up living in Europe and eating out nationally and internationally, we have never experienced this level of incompetence, complete lack of customer service (much less customer service training) and blatant disregard for the customer who is there to support your business. It is shocking and regrettable. Keep your dollars local but don't spend them here unless you are willing to be treated poorly and ignored completely when you are trying to enjoy a nice dinner on a Friday night. Hire or train hostesses who warmly greet customers, welcoming them and letting them know how long the wait may be. That is common courtesy and good customer service that you will find in most good restaurants...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting a charming gastropub nestled in the heart of Pittsburgh. What made this place even more enticing was its convenient location near a charging spot at the Colonial Theater.
Stepping into this gastropub, I immediately felt the inviting ambiance and was captivated by the warm lighting and tasteful decor. I could easily envision this place transforming into a bustling social hub once the sun set. However, what truly caught my attention was the magnificent bar area, where skillful bartenders concocted delightful drinks and presented an impressive array of choices.
Now, let's dive into the culinary experience. While we thoroughly enjoyed our visit, there were a few minor hiccups along the way. One observation worth mentioning was an incident involving another patron who seemed to be overlooked by the waitstaff and had to actively seek their attention. Nevertheless, my personal interactions with the staff were fantastic, which added to the overall positive experience.
When it comes to the food, there were some hits and misses. The Smokehouse burger, despite being slightly overcooked, managed to redeem itself with its enticing charred and crispy edges. Accompanying the burger were a serving of fries that were delightfully different from the norm you find, yet undeniably delicious.
However, the Chicken and Waffles dish turned out to be a disappointment. The chicken lacked seasoning and seemed to be overpowered by the oil used for frying. It's a shame because a well-executed Chicken and Waffles can truly elevate a dining experience.
On a brighter note, the White Chicken Bacon Pizza stole the show! Bursting with flavors, this pizza masterpiece left you craving for more. The combination of tender chicken, savory bacon, and a luscious white sauce was great.
In conclusion, despite a few minor setbacks, this gastropub proves to be a worthwhile destination for your culinary adventures. With its inviting atmosphere, bartenders, wait staff and a menu that showcases some noteworthy dishes, it's a place where you can confidently spend your hard-earned money and indulge in a delightful gastronomic journey....
