I went to Otto's Café today and ordered Fried Catfish with Fries, and Corn. The waitress was very good and had an excellent personality but she was the only good thing about my experience. While waiting for my food she brought me out some cornbread and it was ok, and she got me some Fanta Orange to drink. When I finally got my food I started eating my Catfish and noticed that there were all kinds of bones in the Catfish. There were so many bones still in the catfish, that I almost choked several times. So I then began putting all of the bones in a pile on my napkin. When I waitress came back to the table I asked her if the Catfish was supposed to have bones in it and she replied by saying no and went to go talk to the kitchen. When she came back to the table she said, " the cooks said that there weren't any bones in the catfish," so I showed her the napkin with the pile of them sitting there, she then responded by saying well your right those are definitely bones, would you like me to get you some more Catfish, I'm so sorry this should never happen. I was so upset I told her no thanks I just won't it. The waitress was so nice enough and caring that even though I told her that I didn't want anymore she still made the kitchen make me more and brought it out to me. As expected, even that catfish still had several bones so I just got up and paid to leave. This has to be the worst experience at a restaurant that I've had anymore in Pittsburg. Do not get their catfish meal if you decide to go there, the corn was also horrible and cold when the waitress brought it out to me. The only thing that was good was the fries and they themselves really had any flavor. I was so upset with my experience hat Otto's Café and I will never go back. Lastly there prices are a bit high and could be way less especially if there serving bad quality food like they are. I would say Harry's Café or Bob's Grill would be a much better choice and you will have way better experience than at Otto's Café. This place only deserves one star only because the waitress was so good and had a great personality. I wouldn't recommend eating at...
Read moreMy father and I spend much if our afternoons here. Counter seating mostly, booths and plenty of tables. They offer a medium sized banquet room with a connecting doorway. And a back door from the Stillwell Hotel that residence use now and then for a quick bite to eat. Always familiar smiling local faces and townfolk alike. Open 7days a week. Business owners come and chat around the main table, with even their names written on the bottoms of the chairs. Enjoying coffee and deserts and mid day gossip. Or simply about the weather. Or if you have a question, concern or just needing a little help or beating the heat with a float or water along your journey down the store front Ave. For 70years Otto's has been an open honest family business. And as such been a fixture of Pittsburgh, Ks with it's Home style menu and various changes to the daily specials. Adequate pricing with home made cookies, pies, and cakes all made from scratch in house could give any fast food joint a run for your money. At limited quantiles I'm surprised that many local and in town school students attending PSU do not stop by more often. Though the lack of Wi-Fi entice customers to stay away. However, if a connection is needed a faint signal good enough for essential access can be had from across the street. It's nice to have a cozy spot during its business hours and lighter traffic for study time or group efforts and be able to focus. #HAPPYNAILS
Overall, the staff is pretty laid back with many here for years, and enough of small town ambience kinda take ya to familiar places. Design isn't involved, so there is no guess work. Just come and enjoy some grub. Hope to...
Read moreThe only reason we even went to Otto's was because the wait at Harry's was too long. However, looking back, it would have been quicker just to wait at Harry's. Otto's was about a third full, and we were able to sit immediately. However, they were out of menus and coffee cups, which we thought was a little odd. We placed our orders and waited... and waited... and waited. About 45 minutes. We never got out coffees refilled, and we had to ask more than once for straws and silverware. Also, my mother-in-law ordered water with no ice, so the server brought her a glass and pointed to the sink so my mother-in-law had to fill and refill her own glass. When the food came out, my husband, father-in-law, and bother-in-law's food were all incorrect. The waitress insisted that my brother in law told her one kind of meat instead of the one he had ordered. She also told my husband that the cook was "too busy to redo his order and he could either eat what she had served or she could take it off the ticket," She then explained to us about the grill size, and how it's just too small to remake all of these omelettes. My husband then asked for his side order of bacon, which he never received, and she said she would go get them. By that time, the whole family was done eating and we decided to forget about the bacon and just leave. In total, we were there for about an hour and a half. The server and the management did absolutely nothing to make up for the lousy meal. Needless to say, we...
