Got takeout from this place, which seemed to be relatively busy. It's one of the few places in the area to get Middle Eastern food, so I figured I'd give it a try. It was quite a disappointment. I ordered the chili, falafel, hummus, baba ghanoush, baklava, and pita.
The only dish I actually quite enjoyed was the chili. It had an adequate amount of spice, came in a fair portion, and had lots of vegetables. When eating it, I felt healthy and cozy.
The falafel was on the dry side but it was alright. Hummus and baba ghanoush were a bit disappointing. Especially the eggplant: no charred flavor, but it tastes a lot more like baby food. The pita was also very basic and you do not get any hummus for free, like in some other restaurants.
Finally, the desserts are only okay. They forgot to put the desserts in my to go to bag, so it's a good thing I checked it before I left. Once we actually tried the baklava, it was fair. We had the lady's finger, bird's nest, Burma, and regular baklava. All were not soaked enough in my opinion, and there were not that many nuts. However, this lack of flavor did make the dessert taste healthy, which could be good for some folks.
Overall, it is a fair healthy spot but it's not the greatest bang for your buck, service,...
Read moreHere is a copy of the message I just sent directly to the restaurant: "My husband and I have gone to your restaurant several times over the past several years. Last evening I brought my mom there for a treat after my dad died last week. I will never go back. Your portions are ridiculously small for the price I ordered 3 Alladin's Lamb Rolleds (one to take home to my husband) at $8.25/ea. The description had approx 8 ingredients - sounded wonderful. I am pretty sure you put one little piece of each of those 8 ingredients. We were in disbelief at the tiny 'sandwich' you served us. I paid $25 for 3 meals that should have been about $5 each. So disappointing. You will never stay in business serving tiny portions at such a price. We have gone to other restaurants and gotten huge real steak sandwiches for the same price - piled with steak, lettuce, tomatoes, etc. We like to go to your restaurant to pick up food to take on our boat at the nearby marina, but unfortunately we will be going elsewhere...
Read moreBeing from out of town I was looking forward to finding a great falafel place and this place is all there was in that area. I ordered a felafel wrap, stuffed grape leaves and I got a piece of vegan cheesecake from their case.
Awful. The stuffed grape leaves were dry and tough, and the rice was undercooked. The felafel wrap didn't have a whole lot of felafel to it, and there was too much of the pickled stuff where I felt like that's all I could taste for the most part. I was hungry so I made myself eat it. The last bite had so much spice I spit it into a napkin and literally wiped my tongue to get the taste out and gobs of spices.
The vegan cheesecake was pretty bad, although in their defense they didn't make the vegan cheesecake, they get it from some other awful place that doesn't know what they're doing. I ate half and threw the rest in the garbage. I know vegan cheesecake doesn't taste the same as non-vegan cheesecake, but what i got did not r
I mean, how do you...
