This place has some magical pizza! Got a tip from a coworker at my new job that this place does an amazing pizza. So, taking them on their word, I went after work. I was pleased to find that not only were they true to their word, but it's got a super appetizing menu!
I was sold on the Square (Sicillian/Pan) pizza by my coworker, but wanted to try the Round (New York/Standard) pizza as well. They were very different, but both were excellent. The Square was crispy, with good fresh sauce, cheesy, and perfectly taken out of the oven. The Round was soft, very cheesy, with a good sauce, solid cheese-pull, and tasty crust.
Really, I was floored. Two very different pizzas that came out awesome. So you could easily secure a great amount of variety in one pizza order, and get excellent quality.
Everything else looks really good. The Garlic Knots were alright, very crispy outside, soft inside, pungent garlic, light on the buttery side. It wasn't perhaps my preference, but I'm sure they are an awesome choice for some out there.
So really, suffice to say, I can't recommend this place enough. Badamo's deserves its place in some of Pittsburgh's local pizzerias. And definitely sits at the top of the competitors. Even for a...
Read moreDefinitely a good pizza shop, but it might be a tad overhyped. I didn’t love it or anything, but did enjoy it. They have both round pies and Sicilian style pizzas. Not a ton of premade pizza options outside of the classics, so a somewhat limited menu.
I decided to try the red pizza in Sicilian form. The red Sicilian was pretty good. The dough was airy and not too overpowering. The cheese was tasty and seemed to be decently high quality. They had the sauce on the top, which is kind of unique and almost upside down or grandma style.
I honestly wasn’t a big fan of the sauce and found it a little sweet. There wasn’t a ton of crunch to the pizza (it’s not like the Detroit style of Iron Born). But still, not bad.
Their homemade ranch was pretty good but quite unique. It’s got an herbal taste to it, with a nice amount of creaminess. I think the ranch saved the crust at times.
All in all, decent pizza shop that might be a tad overhyped. It’s still solid and I may come back, but...
Read moreI grew up in a small Italian town. I left for the big city but man I miss the food. When I moved to Pgh I was shocked to discover the lack of good Italian food and pizza, so far my favorite pizza places have been ones that specialize in non-Italian pizza really. I don't spend a lot of time on the Northside and happened to be here this weekend and decided to stop by.
The atmosphere when I walked in took my right home. Ovens burning hot. Small place, only a few people could fit at a time. I didn't want to get my hopes up in case I got disappointed but I got existed and was not disappointed. Even though I took the pizza back and let it sit out while I took care of some things, thus far it was EXACTLY what I was searching for. Perfect sauce/cheese ratio, great dough, great flavors, super filling (barely got through two square slices for dinner). I'll be moving from Pgh soon but happy in the meantime to have a place to take my parents when they visit when we're...
