Came here one day for lunch during work, initially I thought, "eh, just another Mexican food place." I then ordered the Chorizo Burrito with my choice of extras on it. Order didn't take too long to make (mine along with 3 other orders). Took it in hand. Sat down. I took one bite. One. Damn. Bite. The warm and juicy flavors of the Spanish sausage united with the rice and beans, and the cheese. Oh the cheese. All came together in a beautiful synchronized dance of essence, and zest. And that was just the tip of the iceberg my friends. I proceeded to consume this gift from heaven. Let me tell you. I have had some pretty convincing Mexican food, but this place takes the flan. I can honestly say I was not disappointed that day.
I have been to border states such as Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, and all of the "real" Mexican food is kind of a disappointment. But this small hole in the wall has made my bucket list. Our initial trip was nearly 9 months ago. We try and go at least twice a week now.
On a more serious note, El Burro is one of my top picks for places to eat in Pittsburgh. The staff are incredibly nice, there's a great selection of food, including a vegetarian menu. Their homemade chips and salsa are a great addition and their homemade habanero sauce is especially good. If you like Mexican delicacy, this is definitely a place...
Read moreI wouldn't even give it a 1 star if I didn't have to. I have ordered from this "restaurant" twice. The first time I ordered through DoorDash and it was a complete disaster. An $80 order 2 hours late, ice cold and more than half of our order was completely missing. Now, I will say, I blame that mostly on the Dasher. So, because it's one of very few restaurants in the Pittsburgh area that serves Mexican cuisine, I decided to give it another try and pick up the order myself. When I called to confirm my order pick-up time, the lady that answered was EXTREMELY rude and disrespectful. The website did not offer an option to add carne asada to my salad and she was giving me an attitude as if it was my fault. Then, we get to the restaurant to pick up our order, the salad was shredded lettuce soaked in water, some tomatoes and carne asada. No dressing, no pico de gallo, no tortilla strips as it states. My husband ordered the shrimp Diablo burrito with roasted corn and they gave him a cup of canned corn, not roasted. I ordered rice and beans with my children's quesadilla, they didn't give it to us. The food was disgusting. She then wanted to complain about how they were unable to charge me for the carne asada. Ok Karen, take it out of the 15% tip I gave you for being a *. I will never order from this restaurant again....
Read moreWhen we first arrived, we had a very good impression, the cashier was helpful when it came to deciding what to order. We ordered a burrito, a taco, nachos, and 2 Jarritos. We ONLY got the burrito and Jarritos, after at least 15 minute wait, and after leaving a good tip(which the cashier did not originally understand we left it as tip and came back to us with the change). We went to ask about the taco and nachos, they hadn't included it into the order. We simply ordered the Nachos again, payed with a 20 dollar bill, and sat back down right in front of the cashier. The food was mediocre at best, but it wasn't until we were almost done eating when we realized the cashier had never given us our change ($16 dollars cash). She had left them inside of her tip jar...It was clear this was NOT a mistake, because the first time we had left without our change, and she brought it to us, we left some extra pamphlets on the counter, she brought it to us, so why not bring $16 dollars after a long wait and bad service? We asked to speak to the manager, who immediately blamed us and defended her 'new' worker. No amount of inexperience justifies a lack of management, common sense, and...
