My recent visit to Cafe D’amore was a rather disappointing affair. Despite my enthusiasm when walking in, my presence seemed to be largely ignored by ALL THREE of the baristas. They appeared disinterested and unengaged. This lack of customer service set the tone for what was to come.
The coffee itself was a far cry from what I had hoped for. The first sip revealed an overwhelming bitterness that left me questioning the quality of the espresso. In an attempt to salvage my experience, I requested a remake, only to be met with a near-attempt to charge me again.
Although a remake was eventually provided, the result was far from satisfactory. The mocha I received was a perplexing combination of bitter chalkiness that bore little resemblance to the promised flavors. The disappointment was palpable. I was again ignored when I told the barista thank you. I ended up throwing the latte out in the nearest trash can.
My last two experiences at Cafe d’amore have made me decide to never visit again. Unfortunately, they have gone downhill over the last year.

Read moreCaffè d'Amore is a treasure worth every trip. The quality of their coffee is some of the best I've had in Pittsburgh and I've never been disappointed with any of the beverages I've had. Their matcha lattes are delicious and they always have housemade seasonal syrups to add to coffee or tea drinks. I also really enjoy the shrub sodas. It's right up my alley as someone who likes carbonated drinks like kombucha but doesn't enjoy sugary conventional sodas. Definitely recommend trying if you like a little weird bubbly beverage. The food doesn't disappoint either. You can tell a lot of love and care goes into crafting their dishes. They usually have at least one vegan item on the menu, and I've been really enjoying their soups. As it moves into spring I'm excited to see what else they'll bring to the menu. Also can't forget to mention this establishment is dedicated to reducing waste as much as possible, which is hard to come by in Pittsburgh.
TL;DR get your butt to Caffe d'Amore and enjoy some amazing coffee and food in a vibey...
Read moreGreat place. Typical coffee shop vibes with eclectic furniture, great music, and chill people making drinks. I love this style. I came here to get a little work done and I made the right decision coming here. I got a plain green tea and I don’t know what type this is, but it’s got such an impressive flavor that I will be back for more. Also, the mason jar sleeve is a nice little touch of style. The cherry chocolate scone is super buttery and crumbly that even a Brit would think twice about American baking. There’s a Shwarma truck outside and it is rocking. This is a place with chill vibes, good relationships with food vendors, and as comfy as home, but with cooler stuff. They also have these geometric animal busts on the wall and if the Purge happened, I would definitely steal those. I mean look at that...
