BEWARE!! TDLR: ordered a cake for a baby shower, the customer service was horrendous, the cake was not decorated correctly and frozen with possible mold in the middle and they’ve had 3 health dept complaints since 2019, plus mine

I ordered here for my baby shower and it was an absolute disaster. We went to the shop and tried different things from the case before ordering. I emailed the shop when I saw the combo wasn’t on the order form and they responded quickly and said I could order it through the portal and someone would contact me later to finalize everything. I ordered but days out no one had reached out, so I called. I was told by a barista she could see my order was correct and that I could pick it up Friday or Saturday. Since my shower was 12p on Saturday my friend called back to confirm we could do Friday. She spoke to an extremely rude man who didn’t even look up the order and said we could have it at 12 Saturday and it wasn’t his problem that it didn’t work for us. I called back and got the same man with the same awful attitude. He basically accused us of lying and speaking to the barista. He had the cake decorator call me back and she was also extremely rude and said we couldn’t have it Friday night. I tried explaining if we could even get it one hour earlier that the schedule would be tight but we could make it work. She told me the cake was not baked so we couldn’t get it earlier. I told her that the man I spoke with said it was done but not decorated. She said repeated that it was not baked. So, at one point I said “maybe we should just cancel the order since this isn’t going to work” & she said “you can’t cancel it once it’s baked”. I pointed out that she had just said it wasn’t baked and she said “well I just texted someone and they said it was baked”. Okay. So, after a very rude conversation she agreed to let us get the cake at 11am on Saturday.

When the cake got picked up, it wasn’t decorated correctly. We asked for semi-naked buttercream and it was full buttercream. The woman said “I thought this was a bridal shower” (it was clearly decorated for a bridal shower despite our order form and the email I sent clearly stating baby shower). Since we were short on time we just accepted it, it still looked nice even if it wasn’t what we had hoped for. During the shower we noticed the cake was sweating but wrote it off. A few minutes later the staff of the baby shower venue came out and said the cake was frozen. We had them cut it and hoped for the best. Well, as they cut into the cake the staff came out horrified and informed us the cake had mold in it. So, basically we couldn’t serve it. Since the contract said we could only return the cake if we brought it back uncut, we weren’t sure what to do, so we reached out to the shop. My friend and I both emailed the shop/owner and included photos and video of the interior of the cake. We gave them a week but no one responded, despite that same email answering me within a day before. We called the shop a few times and got told we’d get called back and never did. I reached out to the BBB and finally almost 3 weeks later received a response from the owner that it probably wasn’t mold but “discolored raspberries” and also that the bakery staff is nice so they didn’t believe us that they were rude. Unreal. Several people, including a previous bakery manager, & the venue staff saw this cake and all agreed it was clearly not “discolored berries”. I reached out to the Health Dept. and the person I spoke with verified they’ve had 3 complaints since 2019 and that they were also skeptical it was discoloration. The shop stated they would not refund us despite us not being able to serve the cake because we didn’t bring the cake back. We saved slices but because the contract stated the cake had to be whole for a refund and no one responded to us for WEEKS, we weren’t sure what to do. So we had no cake for the shower and are out the money. The customer service was so awful. They basically ruined a baby shower and have zero remorse. Such an overall...

The place had so much potential from the moment I saw it online to when I looked at the beautiful little cakes behind the glass. Unfortunately, the place did not deliver.

I asked for a slice of the rosemary cake with blood orange icing. Instead of serving a fresh slice, the server took a slice behind the fresh cake and gave me what is probably a day-old slice with no decorative flowers on top. What was likely a soft flavorful treat has devolved into a sad shadow of its former self. The cake was stale turning each bite into a lackluster experience. Even Dunkin Donuts throws away what they cannot sell for the day, so it is truly unacceptable for a bakery to serve this.

My friend ordered a different small cake which was more moist with matcha cream in between. Despite its instagramble presentation, the delicate flavor of sesame was overwhelmed by the sweetness and nowhere to be found. The cake is more of a pound cake but somehow crumbly on the edges, than a sponge. This does salvage a little the disappointment that was my slice.

There were two flys bothering us the entire time. The last thing you want to see in a cake shop.

I hope this does not come across as too harsh and the management takes this to improve the services because I would love to see a thriving local establishment where I can get my...

Cute and intimate bakery with delicious offerings-- you can taste the high quality of ingredients used and the pastry art skills are evident (I bake a lot myself semi-prof so I'm pretty picky if I'm going to shell out $$ for someone else to make it for me)

We got the chocolate buttercream cake --2 days in the fridge and it STILL had a moist fine crumb and decadent chocolate frosting that I swear had mascarpone mixed in to give it a little tang to cut through the sweetness + also punch up the chocolatey flavor We also got the butterscotch pudding cups and I will say they are THE perfect after dinner treat and unlike what another reviewer said there's far more than one teaspoonful of pudding, it was the correct balance and proportion of ingredients for me without feeling overly full or too sweet We pay $15 for a similar dessert in Philly at Barbuzzo (salted caramel buddino) so I wasn't mad at the $7 price point You pay for the ingredients and the labor and I'm happy to do so

I HIGHLY recommend this bakery and will def be going back every visit to Pittsburgh 👌👌😍😍😍

Fyi You need to order 48hrs in advance if you want to guarantee a cake though when I went on Xmas Eve there was still a great selection available to...
