Modern Cafe — Restaurant in Pittsburgh

Wish I could give it 0. First time and last time here. Ordered two french dips and two orders of fries. Ordered by phone for pickup said 20 mins. Get there in 25 mins and they still have not finished food waited an additional 10- 15 mins figured they never made the food until i got there. The sandwich itself was very very small for the price and something tasted awful on the sandwich and the bread was stale and hard. The "roast beef" as they call it is nothing more then deli cuts. The fries @450 an order were dumped right into a takeout container and were undercooked (still cold) in the middle but hot enough to melt through the Styrofoam container. Literally the worse $30 ever spent in my life. We each had one bite of our sandwich and maybe 2 french fries and threw the rest in the garbage. Save time and money ANYPLACE right around there is better including McDonald's and Wendy's. Don't understand how these people stay open......I would not eat here again if they were giving the food away. Edit starts here Just tried a few more fries and some of the fries were actually warm in the middle. However even the ketchup tastes really really off. Not sure what to say about that not sure I ever complained about someones...

We have come to Modern for many many years. We decided to visit again since restrictions have lifted. we sat outside and the waitress/bartender came out and took our drink order. She came back with drinks and we had a fun discussion about what the place was like years ago. That was the last time we saw her. The restaurant got busier, as they do around dinner time. We saw her come out deliver drinks to other tables, which had arrived significantly after us.. finally we decided to save the waitress a trip and just went into the bar. I went in first and after five minutes of being ignored at the end of the bar. Another patron was served directly in front of me. I went outside and my husband went in and waited another ten minutes also ignored although sitting at the bar. Yes it was a little busy all at once..however, the blatant disregard to us was just jarring.. at least ten people that came in after us at the bar were immediately helped. Very frustrating and so disappointing. We left 20 on the table and wrote we got tired of waiting. When I went in as we were leaving she was chatting up a customer inside and cleaning. I stated we were leaving and she stated sorry I haven't been outside in 30 minutes . Again...

I’ve been violently ill since Monday night. I had ordered lunch from here as well earlier in the day, I got the Cobb salad with chicken, and broccoli cheddar soup (which was not good) and then I joined a friend for some drinks later in the evening. I’m a local and a frequent at this bar/cafe a lot. We ordered nachos, a few hours after I got home I knew something was wrong. I couldn’t sleep, and became violently ill. I thought maybe it was the cheese.. but I’ve come to realize that I have raging food poisoning from their lettuce. My best guess is ecoli. It is now THURSDAY, and I’m still violently ill. I called them yesterday to let them know I’m very sick and they need to take their food off the menu for the day, to prevent it happening to anyone else. The woman on the phone was incredibly rude, trying to argue with me that it couldn’t have been the chicken, or the cheese, or the soup, etc. and not an apology or refund was even offered. This is also the 2ND TIME, I’ve gotten sick from this place. After 6+ years of coming here I think it’s finally time I...
