I am really sad. Since I’ve been in Pittsburgh for school, I’ve noticed that Pittsburgh pizza isn’t great. Once in a while, I crave pizza so much that I just need to order it, and I have been trying different places to find a good-average one. Seeing 4.4 stars, I thought this wouldn’t be too bad. I WAS WRONG. I ordered cheese fries, cheesy garlic bread, and veggie pizza. I opened the box, and the color of the pizza was the most unappealing I’ve seen. The veggies, which were so dull and brown in color I can only assume or at least hope were canned, covered the pizza and caused it to be soggy. When picking up a slice that, mind you, was barely hot, everything slid off. They were mushy, except for the onions which were virtually raw. The crust tasted like dough. Not only in regards to the pizza but to all three items ordered, not one was cooked until it was crispy in any way, shape, or form. The fries were brown and at first, looked like they would be crispy, but they were not at all. Even the parts that were not covered in cheese whiz. The cheese whiz was the only ok part of this meal. The garlic bread smelled weird, and the after taste WILL NOT GO AWAY. I would rather have had frozen garlic bread from the grocery store. $20.95 was spent, except I wouldn’t take food from here for free after this experience....
Read moreWell, it’s lent and so I was looking for somewhere with good fish sandwiches. I used to get them from Donatelli‘s in Bloomfield and Neids in Lawrenceville and they’re both closed so I didn’t know where to go. I was driving down liberty Avenue and saw Pizza Italia and I was like I’ll give it a shot. Im so glad I did, OH it was DELICIOUS!! It was crispy on the outside and so fresh and tender on the inside. It was just so perfect. It hit the spot. Their fish sandwiches are amazing and it’s better when you eat Unless you live close because the steam from the Styrofoam container can make it not as crispy. I got takeout tho, I only live 10 minutes away and when I got home, it was still crispy. I took my first bite and it was just perfect. I don’t even know what else to say, You just gotta try it. It was truly delicious. I definitely give it...
Read moreI've patronized Pizza Italia for many years and have done so because the food is consistently excellent, I particularly like their Sicilian style pizza. I live in Bloomfield and have countless pizza shops within a 5 mile radius so Pizza Italia is conveniently located, but given the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff I'd happily go out of my way to get to Pizza Italia. As for the atmosphere, in the past dining in was not available, but several years ago Pizza Italia underwent remodeling significantly changing the shop. Now, not only is dining in available, the atmosphere is awesome with comfortable seating and several televisions to catch up on the game and enjoy some of the best pizza and sandwiches in the city. Be sure to give Pizza Italia a try....you won't be...
