I moved to the area about a year ago, and since then, I’ve constantly heard people talk about this place in a pretty negative way. My partner even went once with colleagues and came back saying it was…meh. Nothing to write home about, and the service wasn’t great either. But we’re not the type to judge a place off one experience, so today we decided to try it out together.
Unfortunately, I get why people feel the way they do, and honestly, I was blown away by how negative the vibe was.
The woman who took our order was incredibly condescending. From the moment I walked in, it felt like I was being rushed to know exactly what I wanted. (For context: the restaurant was empty, so there was no reason to act like I was holding up a line.) I even said, “It’s my first time here,” hoping she’d be a little helpful, but nope, still got the attitude.
When I finally decided, I asked if cheese came on the sub, and if not, could I add some? She glared at me and said flatly, “That’s a 75-cent charge,” then just stared. I said, “Oh, that’s fine, thank you” and she literally sighed, rolled her eyes, and turned away to make the food. No indication whether we should sit, pay, wait, just overall a really uncomfortable interaction.
And as if the awkward service wasn’t enough, there are no restrooms, even though there are tables to sit and eat. Weird, right?
Now, about the food. If the food had been amazing, I could’ve maybe overlooked the vibe (though let’s be real, I shouldn’t have to). But sadly, the food was just…not it. Barely any meat, way too much bread, practically no mayo. iIt was honestly a sad excuse for a sub.
This was my first and definitely my last time at Angelina’s Subs. The negative talk I’ve heard about this place? Not just buzz. I’m here to...
Read moreOrdered roasted vegetable 12" sub. Ordered the same sandwich in Adams shop a few weeks ago. This proves that even with the same menu item with the same ingredients, the cook makes all the difference.
Actually, they demonstrated a common problem with a lot of restaurants - people who work in a meat-focused restaurant don't know how to cook vegetarian. The veggies were smothered in grease or oil or whatever and put directly on the bread. By the time I sat down to eat, the sandwich was literally soggy and dripping. (It was NOT in the Adams location.)
I was hoping that they would toast the bread so the moistness of the veggies don't turn the bread into mush.
Also, I'd commented that the Adams location put on plenty of cheese, which very well complemented the all-veggie sandwich (and put Subway to shame). I initially thought they forgot the cheese because it was so source. Then I realized that they didn't cover the length of the sub, which is basically saying, "We want it to taste inconsistent."
What I really like about Angelina's is that they do not skimp on the ingredients. This is why I prefer this restaurant, by far, over the known name. This location was great in this regard.
To be fair, the veggies...
Read moreWell first time going there was today came all the way from Albany drive a school bus so we went there to grab lunch. We ordered ahead didn’t realize there was three locations. We went to the one furthest away from our school when we got there the lady wasn’t very Nice to us also charge us $43 for two Philly cheesesteaks and an order of sweet potato fries the food was nothing to brag about and the price was just ridiculous for two subs so I think I’m gonna give the one hosatonic road a try The lady seemed way more friendly when we went there to get our food, but it was at a different location and the place just all in all looked cleaner smelled better. I think it’s nice just to be approached by someone friendly when you’re getting Food starts it off the right way so I’m gonna give them another try. Only this time I’ll be getting a cold Sub definitely not a...
