This is the first time I use the term "hidden gem." I walked in here to get Mexican bread. As I'm choosing my bread, a lady walks in and starts ordering. I overheard since it's not a very big place. She ordered something with papas con chorizo, and immediately, I was interested. They told her it would take about 10-15 minutes, which to me means its made fresh. So I started looking around for a menu and I couldn't find one other than Tamales. I asked the cashier what the lady ordered with papas con chorizo. She told me empanadas. To my surprise, they have empanadas and quesadillas at a bakery. So I bought two, waited about 10 minutes, got my food and came home. Not expecting anything spectacular, I bit into it, and OMG! Memories of my grandma's cooking flooded in. The empanadas had so much flavor. They gave me some red sauce, so I tried it on the 2nd bite, I didn't think it could get any better, but the red sauce made it 10x better. The picture I posted doesn't do this justice. I didn't expect much, but man, was I wrong. I'll be back very soon and try the quesadillas and way more empanadas. You have to try these empanadas and don't forget the red sauce.

Idk what Denise is on but this place is amazing. They didn’t have slices available this time that I came in but I got the fruit tart and it was the best freaking fruit tart I’ve ever had. Every piece of fruit was sweet, from the mango to the blueberries. The crust was perfect, not hard and rocky but firm and just kinda melts in your mouth with the cream. It’s not that unnaturally sweet, which is great because the fruit was perfect. Juan is such a great person, and his speciality cakes (which the store was named after) are worth it. They use fresh produce and make the cakes fresh, so of course they’re worth the money. Support your local bakeries, not the ones in groceries stores that are generic and mass produced! You won’t regret it.

Amazing bakery, the Mil Hojas special cake is to die for! It’s layers of sponge cake, flakes, custard, topped with light frosting and peach, strawberries, and kiwi! And then the other special fruit tart, is amazing crust with custard, topped with blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, peach, and kiwi! $46/ cake that feeds 10-12 people. Met the young owner he let me try a sample of the sponge cake with the custard before I ordered. Will be coming back. Also he let me know they’re open all holidays!!
