Bostwick Bakery of Plainfield — Restaurant in Plainfield Charter Township

I have visited this location often because the donuts are fresh and delicous, but today I am going to complain. First of all, they are remodeling and the donuts and pastries that are being frosted are sharing the same air as the numerous power saws just 12 feet away. Not much in the way on food safety.

Upon viewing the selection of donuts, my first thought was that they didn't look like the usual offerings. The glaze on the cinnamon rolls was starting to crack as if dried out. The fritters, which is what I went there for, were not as "knobby" looking as usual and resembled dry lumps of dough. However, I ordered a blueberry--lemon and an apple. When I went to eat my apple fritter, I saw only half was glazed. Two bites in, I found it dry, hard, and flavorless.

I went back in to tell the young lady (Sierra) how they tasted and asked for a refund. She didn't say a word but gave some smirk of indifference. She refunded the money and told me to have a good day. I told her that it would have been nice if she would have offered some acknowledgement of my experience or an apology for my disappointment in the quality of the fritters. She then said okay and...

I need to give Bostwick Bakery a HUGE shout out today. This bakery stepped up, and went above and beyond yesterday to help a bride in need. My Friends original donut bakery had an electrical fire Thursday night before her wedding, and we reached out to Bostwick yesterday morning looking for help. The owner and their staff pumped out 100 donuts, and even decorated them to the color scheme of the wedding. On top of doing this with short notice (they were only given about a 5 hour notice), they even delivered the donuts personally. On behalf of the bride and the groom, I know how much they appreciated this. The donuts were a huge hit with everyone too. So once again, thank you for saving the day, it meant so much knowing you all were able to step in, and help us out. Besides them doing such a great job yesterday, I personally love coming to this location with my kids sometimes in the morning before school. Friendly service and the location is good for us but unfortunately the donuts are not. We’ve tried multiple times but the donuts sometimes taste like they were cooked in old oil and we’ve NEVER had a fresh tasting one. They have always been dry…like they were made the day before. Kids like creme long johns but this filling is extremely sweet and they’re way too messy. Instead of injecting the filling they cut the donut in half lengthwise and spread the filling so it comes out everywhere. Sorry…no more chances left. We just...
