TOTAL hidden gem! What an incredibly quaint, little Italian restaurant tucked away in downtown Plainfield. The ambience was absolute perfection. Quiet, casual and cozy yet upscale. The food was insanely fresh, flavorful, organic, and absolutely delicious! Great selection of food and drinks. My mom ordered an Italian tea and my sister ordered an Aperol spritz, while I ordered an organic prickly pear + tangerine Italian soda. It was light, crisp and refreshing. We ordered Ricotta and honey with a homemade rosemary focaccia, fried zucchini (light and crispy, breaded to perfection) served with two insanely delicious sauces, polpette (fried meatballs), two different types of pizzas (Margherita and Calabrese) and to top it off pistachio gelato and vanilla bean gelato with olive oil and sea salt flakes for dessert. Each dish was simplistic perfection. Quality ingredients = quality cuisine. I can’t stress enough how absolutely, incredibly, FLAVORFUL everything we ordered was. We loved everything that we ordered. And the service was top notch! The owner was SO attentive, polite and helpful, answered any questions we had with a smile and checked on us throughout our meal. Dario Mercato is an absolute MUST for authentic, FRESH Italian food with amazing service. Easily my new favorite restaurant in downtown Plainfield. I can’t wait...

Absolutely amazing, if I could rate this place 10 out of 5, I would. My husband picked up lunch for us today and grabbed a selection of pizza slices as well as a panino. I cannot express how amazing every bite was. The bread on the panino was soft and delicious with just the right amount of chew, the mozzarella seemed incredibly fresh, the meat sliced perfectly thin...and nothing was too salty, which I often find on sandwiches with cured meat. The highlight for me was the potato rosemary slice. This pizza had the PERFECT crust texture, super delicious mozzarella, creamy potatoes with the perfect bit of herbaceousness from the rosemary. Honorable mention to the Rosso with maybe the best red sauce on a pizza I've ever had.
