D's Diner — Restaurant in Plains Township

We were greeted immediately and told we could sit wherever we like. Waitress was prompt very sweet and polite. I had a big slice of the black forest cake. It was good. I'm not one for frosting made with crisco like bases but it wasn't too bad. I then had a cup of very good soup, could tell it was fresh ingredients potato and steak. And then open face roast beef with carrots and mashed potatoes and gravy. Served over bread. Mashed potatoes were instant I'm more of a fan of fresh so I'm going to say not my favorite but it was a big portion. The roast beef and gravy were good but I needed some extra gravy as there was a bunch of beef and the bread underneath had no gravy. My partner had a cup of chili was very good. the turkey dinner with stuffing and mashed and gravy with green beans. Turkey was good, moist and real turkey not deli turkey which I absolutely love about it. Stuffing was a bit over spiced for my taste but good other wise. Green bean were ok. Gravy was good. He ordered corn fritters which are like nuggets not what I'm use to for fritters but good none the less. We ordered the raspberry coconut cake and the orange Creamsicle cake to go.

Was here at 3 am on Saturday 11/14/23 waitress was rude but she the first we have been in several times now and this was the first. My partner speaks low so she raised her voice and said speak up I can't hear you in a rude tone. We had to ask another waitress for a refill on drinks. Food was Good as always. He had the meatball sub meatballs are big. sauce seems like a handmade sauce. I had the turkey bacon club add ham and add cheese because cheese is not included. with fries and a cup of wedding soup. Wedding soup was very hot and delicious. Lots of fries. And the club sandwich was great.

Came in around 9pm. 2/26/25. We seated ourselves as no one was out front. The waitress was nice but scarce. Once again had to ask another waitress not so nice to get me another drink. Food was warm, fries full of grease and even with gravy could still taste it. My partner had turkey dinner which was much better. mildly hot. Stuffing was really good. This is a decent place for a quick bite to eat. That said the food isn't anything to write home about. It is, bland and well prepared and sometimes thats all you want or need. We went for breakfast they dont really have anything too exciting just the regular things one would expect with nothing fancy. It is worthy to mention they dont take credit which is a bit of an odd choice. They obviously want to avoid interchange fees, but the food is actually a little more expensive than I expected for the quality. For example the pancakes which were huge were 10.99 for 2 but tasted like they came out of a box and the syrup was the cheap artificial stuff. The French toast had barely any egg on it at all (I think it was only dipped lightly on one side... maybe it was odd. The bacon and home fries were well prepared, but I added the gravy, and that almost certianly came out of a can or jar it was not home made. Their kids menu is pretty funny (see photo) all in all this is probably not worth going to. The staff is good, the service is good, atmosphere is clean, but the food is not all that great. D's diner Quick stop after making a donation to Mohegan Sun Casino. I thought this was going to be an exceptional stop based on some of the other local reviews. Unfortunately, we do not agree. Friday night, at about 8:30 p.m., the diner was basically empty. We were greeted promptly and told to sit anywhere we like. An older waitress came right over to take our drink order and leave menus with us . She brought the drinks quickly and that's all we saw from her there we sat waiting for 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes and she never came back to us. After about 10 more minutes, a young blonde waitress came up and asked us if our order was taken. She seemed to get visibly upset when we told her no. She then got everything back on track for us, and our food came out shortly thereafter. My wife and I each got the chop steak, which came with a potato and vegetable. Portions were large, and the food was hot, but that was about it. The food was just OK and really nothing to write home about.
