After two experiences at this establishment, I am confused by their decent rating. I will preface this by saying that the food is good, not great but good. The service on the other hand is absolutely terrible and rude does not even begin to describe the “manager” and waitstaff. We decided to stop in for Hibachi on a Saturday evening for my 8 year olds birthday as hibachi is her favorite. With the assumption that it would be a busy evening I called to reserve our table for that night. The manager told us our table would be ready to go at 8:30 PM. Upon our arrival at the restaurant, it was evident that there were no hibachi seats available. It was clear the people seated at the grills had recently arrived as they were just being served their beverages. After 10 minutes of standing at the door the manager finally came over to inform us we would need to wait 45 minutes to an hour for our RESERVED table. As previously stated, this was for a child’s birthday so we were obviously not thrilled to have to stand in the doorway for an hour with 4 hungry children. The woman apologized but told us a party of 18 (with no reservation) walked in so they “had” to take them. It was quite evident they pushed us aside for the larger bill. After listening to the kids complain for 45 minutes we were finally seated. The folks seated with us also had a reservation for the same time and were told on the phone by the manager that if they were late for their reservation they would not be seated. They too were given a 45 minute wait upon arrival. They also had young children eager to eat. We were rushed through ordering and the waitress could not have had less personality if she tried. Our chef was very kind but mellow and boring compared to experiences we have had at other places. The “show” was very rushed and they were skimpy with the sake compared to competitors in the area. Again, the food was ok but there are much better local options. Our waitress forgot the white rice my daughter ordered so we had to chase her for that and she never offered us a refill on our drinks that were clearly empty. Nonetheless, we tipped our chef in cash for his time. When the bill came 20% gratuity was rolled into the total cost for the waitstaff. Normally I would be ok with this but after waiting 45 minutes for my reserved table and having a waitress with no personality, I was not paying the 20%. We paid the cost of the food and tipped the waitress $10 out of pure sympathy. If the service was better we would consider returning but we will support other local...
Read moreTook my best friend there for her birthday dinner. She & her husband was never at hibachi, and I was telling her Shogun always puts on such a good show. Boy we were really disappointed yesterday. The hibachi chef had no personality and didn't do really any of the tricks like we are accustomed to at Shogun. He attempted the zucchini in the mouth with only one guest a out loud. Even the onion volcano to train wasn't the greatest. So yeah the hibachi show sucked. There was another couple there with us at the table and there were disappointed too. Her steak she wanted medium rare and was well done. We both tried telling the cook to stop cooking it but he would listen he gave her a piece to sample and she said yes please stop cooking it and he still proceeds to keep cooking her meat. She didn't eat most of her food and didn't even take it home she was that upset. Our chicken even was cooked til it got every rubbery and completely dry, we were definitely using the sauces. The main reason we went to Shogun was to celebrate our friends birthday they did NOTHING. We even announcing it was her birthday, more than once. Usually they do something. We've been there multiple times for birthdays and this time they did NOTHING. It shocked me because the other table as we were leaving had a really good hibachi chef who was putting on a show and making a fuss over the birthday guest on that table. We've been to Shogun several times and this is the first time it was disappointing. We don't know if we will be trying it again for a...
Read moreIf i could give Shogun a negative star, i definitely would. Came with a party of 5 and was told by Tina (the assumed owner) that we needed reservations. No problem. This was at 7pm. Made reservations for the "next available" slot for 8:30. When we arrived at 8:25 we were nonchalantly told that everything was pushed back for another hr because the group before us arrived 1 HOUR LATE. I don't understand how thats allowed knowing you have a "list" of parties waiting to give you their money. I asked why i wasn't called or informed before time, since they had my phone number, and got no answer. Upset and through with the games, i walked out while the lady yells after me asking "so you're canceling right?" It was so unprofessional and I felt like for whatever reason, they did not want me and my family to dine there. I reported the situation to the hotel staff, India. She let me know they aren't in charge of Shogun (rented space) but she apologized on behalf of them since i was a guest at The Woodlands Inn. I appreciated her trying to rectify the situation by giving me food vouchers for their hotel restaurant, which was A+ service by the way. The sad thing is that India was more apologetic than Tina smh. I would definitely stay at the Woodlands again, but will NEVER attempt to dine at the Shogun...
