We visited Ocho80 on a busy Sunday afternoon, excited to try a new spot in town. The restaurant was packed with no parking in sight, but we were seated right away—perk of being a party of two. The renovation inside is absolutely beautiful. It feels high-end, modern, and inviting—honestly, it looks like something straight off a Gordon Ramsay makeover show.

We started with chips and salsa, but unfortunately, the chips were mostly crumbs and the salsas weren’t very memorable. I ordered the Ferrero Rocher cocktail, which tasted good but seemed light on alcohol—more like a fancy chocolate drink than a cocktail. My husband enjoyed a few beers, although there was a bit of a wait for refills during the meal.

For our appetizer, we tried the Torre de Mariscos, and it was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and unique to the area. I originally planned to order the pork belly (which was sold out), so I opted for the snapper instead, while my husband had the Parrillada Mar y Tierra. The food presentation was impressive, and although prices are a bit high for the area, we don’t mind paying for good food and a nice experience.

Unfortunately, things took a turn after dinner. Later that night, I became very ill. After days of nausea, migraines, and stomach pain, my husband researched and discovered that reef fish (like snapper) can sometimes carry a naturally occurring toxin called Ciguatera, which cannot be cooked or cleaned out. While I truly don’t believe it was the restaurant’s fault, this incident deeply affected me and my ability to enjoy certain foods now. FYI the snapper tasted amazing!

Overall, the experience was a mix of high and low points. The restaurant is beautiful, the seafood tower was a highlight, and the concept is great for this area. But due to my personal experience and resulting food sensitivity, I likely won’t return—at least not anytime soon. I would still encourage others to try it, especially if you enjoy adventurous cuisine, but be mindful when...

After going to the one in Midland you have high hopes for what this one will be, and it doesn’t disappoint. I actually think the atmosphere and work staff is better here. The food is a higher quality and they actually strive to make sure you have a good time while there. Just be prepared to wait a little to be seated as it is one of the more popular...

I’ve only been twice to Ocho 80 since this restaurant has opened up here in Plainview and both the food and atmosphere have been excellent! I will definitely be back for more! Also server Camila was very attentive in making sure that my tables needs were taken care of. All of staff is very friendly!

I ordered a rib eye steak. The steak is 6oz I’m assuming since it was the size of a pork chop. Half of the steak was all fat. Horrible. My daughter ordered potato asada and they did load it with onions so that was unpleasant for her. Not a good first time impression.
