Just love this place, one of the few places that makes me want to eat salads all the time. Been coming to Cafe Max on and off since they were at the Addison/Midway location, and the quality & quantity have been pretty consistent for me.
Salad breakdown:
Cucumber salad - cucumber, tomato, cilantro, tangy dressing
Vegetable salad - zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, cauliflower, vinaigrette
Potato salad - yellow potatoes, vinaigrette
Pasta salad - tricolor rotini, creamy oregano-forward dressing
Seafood salad - imitation crab, creamy tangy dressing
Chicken salad - chicken, red/green peppers, apples, pecans, cilantro, sweet tangy dressing
Caesar salad - romaine, croutons, parm-forward caesar dressing
Fruit salad - cantaloupe, grapes, pineapple, honeydew
Prices have gone up, but it's to be expected during these times. I'm not mad about it & still think the food is definitely worth the cost. The only difference that I can detect that one reviewer pointed out is that the seafood salad does have a different texture than previously. The flavor is still great, but the imitation crab is a bit more spongy than I remembered. It doesn't bother me, but if you mind that kind of texture, then this salad might be a pass. Other than that, every salad is still delicious, & portions are still huge. I attached a picture the salad sampler that I got and the plate that I made from that. Pretty sure I can make 2 more plates from what I have leftover. However, the sleeper of this meal is the zucchini muffin(not pictured) that comes with your salad....it's so goooood! The muffin is moist, not too sweet and doesn't just have zucchini, but carrots, walnuts, & raisins. Great way to end your meal! Will need to come...
Read moreI’ve held off on writing this for a bit to make sure I wasn’t being petty. After talking with some friends that have gone through the same experience I have come to the conclusion that this is just a bad business practice. We went here to eat and when I went to pay I was informed that they do not accept cards without chips in them. When I asked why they said it was their policy. Well let me explain this further before people start with the right to refuse service thing. You must have a valid reason to refuse it’s not a blanket excuse despite what people tend to think. Same goes for places that don’t accept currency larger than a $20. If it is legal currency you are legally bound to accept it if you do not post your policy. I try to understand why they won’t take cards without chips and I just get the same answer company policy. I have bought demo CD’s from guys with my cards because they had the square attachment. So if they can do it so can you, this “policy” is beyond unnecessary. Despite what you think it does not prevent fraud or identity theft. If you have implemented this “policy” to save on costs then own up to it and say it. If you can accept a chip you can accept a swipe. Why do I know this? Because my background in helping to develop software the very products you are using. Could I have paid with a different card of course but being rude is unacceptable and to parrot response “company policy”...

The menu here is pretty simple, mostly salads and a few sandwiches, soup, quiche etc, but everything is outstanding!
They have a variety of salads to choose from, Caesar, cucumber, fruit, pasta, chicken, seafood, etc. My favorite is the trio, so three different salads. They also have a Duo, individual salads, or a sampler where you can try all seven. Every salad comes with choice of a muffin or a roll and both are amazing!
The chicken salad is my favorite, but it's not what you would expect, it's mostly chicken with a few sliced bell peppers, apples, and pecans in a nice light vinaigrette, pairs well with everything that they have
The portions are huge! Be hungry or be ready to share, or be ready to have some leftovers, not a bad thing.
This is my go-to spot for catering! I always pick it up and again, the portions are huge. I always get the salad sampler, that way there's something for everyone. The muffins are awesome, so are the rolls, I always get some extras in case somebody wants more than one. It's an amazing value and a great spread instead of a box lunch, pizza, etc.
This is one of three locations, all are amazing! That being said, they are all pretty well hidden, probably cuts down on the rent. Hunt one down and you will not be...
