The really dont enforce the kind of quiet library atmosphere that I was raised to help create and had grown accustomed to. I know a lot of this has to do with parenting and the extreme lack shown in teaching children how to not act feral in public...however as far as libraries are concerned...this one is LOUD (I have video proof) The first day I wandered in to study, I enclosed myself in a “quiet room” however their were two childrens parties going on at the same time and both party rooms (didnt know libraries had those) seemed to share a paper thin wall with the quiet room...making it not quiet at all. Today is my second day here. I am trying to do some nursing pre-reqs and there have been SO MANY screaming children. (I can even hear them CLEARLY thru noise cancelling headphones). Noone who is working at the library seems concerned with maintaining a quiet atmosphere and telling the parent to correct child’s behavior or remove themselves. Friendly workers, clean library, great access to loads of movies, music, internet, and literature...
BUT IT IS LOUDER THAN GOING TO A STARBUCKS TO STUDY.
(as a note: I was writing this review, sitting in the library, and my phone which was on silent- began to ring. I declined the call so I would not disturb other patrons of the library- however if I answered my phone and put it on speaker and started yelling like I had extreme hearing loss at the person who was calling...I bet not a single person would have stopped me or had a talk with me about...
Read moreI am SO dissapointed in many of the librarians. When I ask for assistance picking out books for my 3 kids many seem very resistant & they verbalize " we are wanting the parent to do themselves as they know their kids best n what they like." ive had 1 librarian at schemflig and parr ( curly haired woman that was there once) she picked out 15 random books i wouldve never picked in ALL different sections & it literally opened up a new world for my kids. in ivy league towns like princeton university the public librarians r SO much more informative helpful positive encouraging. i know this is not right and im an educated parent can u just inagine how these kids must feel asking these librarians for help? i would ultimately give up its so discouraging and my tax dollars r going towards their salaries? i need to advocate for others ill give a detailed email to the president of plano libraries see if we can...
