DO NOT EAT here! I was a real fan of Winner’s BBQ for years until over the Memorial Day holiday. I told my family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues about the place and how great their BBQ was, but these people are horrible. The food was so good that I made two orders on two different days. Unfortunately, I found plastic in my food in which I and my family choked on and almost died. I called to inform them of this and the manager I spoke with allegedly spoke with the owners who informed me that only the cheaper order of $42.67 was supposedly refunded but I haven’t seen a refund since and since the other order of $81.18 cost more I was told that order would not be refunded at all. The part that is unsettling was that I was told to bring the food back after driving 1 ½ in the opposite direction when the plastic was discovered but I told my family to discard all the food. Also, the manager would not listen to a word I had to say but kept making excuses that the plastic was in there because the cook was moving too fast. Not once did the manager offer to remake the food or offer me a credit or any other alternative which led me to believe that this has happened before and quite often. I then told the manager that I will go to the news outlets, BBB, and social media to expose Winners BBQ restaurants taking your money and not concerned with customer service or cared that I choked on a piece of plastic (manager called it cellophane) and refused to refund my money since me and family choked on plastic that was cooked into the meat. I think this restaurant chain has new owners, so I beg you please never go there because the customer service is atrocious and they only care about taking your money. BEWARE and DON’T YOU DARE...
Read moreThought I’d try this place since it had good reviews, and I think it was ok. Ordered a bit of everything as I tend to do when trying new places. Got a brisket sandwich, chicken quarter, Mac and cheese and cole slaw. The coleslaw was good, it wastes and crisp and had a mild smooth taste. and the Mac and cheese had about a gallon of cheese in it which I love, and it had some seasoning in it like red pepper flakes that made it mildly spicy. Reminded me of the macaroni and cheese they serve in Tennessee.
The brisket sandwich wasn’t bad at all for the price of $8. The meat was nice and tender, had a good amount of fat on it, and the seasoning they used was pretty good! The problem was it didn’t have a deep beefy taste to it, nor did it not seem very smoky. It tasted more like a brisket you would get at like a state fair or amusement park, rather then some true Texas bbq. I don’t think they smoke it as long as they should. Either way like I said it was tender enough and a decent value for how much they give you.
The chicken quarter had the opposite problem. It was also very tender, and the seasoning was also delicious (their seasoning is kind of sweet and salty) but it tasted over smoked. Not even over smoked, it tasted like lighter fluid. I know it’s a sin to use bbq sauce, but I had to use it on the chicken. Their bbq sauce by the way is very good!
So all in all it’s just ok. I’ve had worst bbq, but I have also had way better bbq. I’d rather save the time and spend a little more money and make the drive to...
Read moreWe have been interested in NG this BBQ for awhile and we're nearby today so went in for lunch. It's a nice, homy atmosphere and quick, friendly service. We chose sandwiches: pulled pork, chopped beef and the Cyclone with 3 meats which added the sausage to those we tried. Sides were potato salad and Baked Beans.
#1 favorite item was the Baked Beans. Great flavor, we liked them a lot. The meats were all very good but everyone at some point found a sudden abundance of salt, flake or sea salt. So much salt that the Cyclone was inedible for him. My chopped beef was good, I liked the sauce very much, but about 1/2 to 2/3 through my sandwich I hit A LOT of salt. Same with the pulled pork sandwich.
They do put seasoning on the top bun which I liked on the first half of my sandwich and my husband wiped it off his Cyclone thinking that was the source of the saltiness, so I'm not talking about the salt on the bun when describing the overly salty flavor . The potato salad was very bland and tasted only of mustard and potatoes; I didn't see or taste any other ingredients.
Personally, I'd talk to them and ask about the salt but my husband was disappointed and ready to go.
Worth a try, but consider yourself need about the salt, unless you like eating...
