Me & my little brother and his little ones visited the restaurant last night for the first time. Our waitress was absolutely terrible, didn’t bring us out any utensils upon her coming to the table or even after our chips and salsa came. She was telling me all of the drinks they had and she mentioned that they had Fanta soda so i asked the question of what flavors did they have? She responded back with what? So i assume she wasn’t knowledgeable on Fanta having multiple flavors, so i explained to her that Fanta has multiple flavors. So we proceeded with our night, once the little ones appetizer came out which was mozzarella sticks which required plates and utensils, which traditionally plates and utensils are provided before or when your appetizer arrives. I had to get up out of my booth and find an associate to bring us plates, utensils, and napkins which i shouldn’t have had to do so. My little brother had to ask for her to give the little ones refills, she forgot our drinks we had. I wasn’t pleased on any terms on how burnt my tortillas was of my QuesaBirria as well. So she brings us our bill on the hand held card reader with a tip amount already selected which left me an awe. The audacity of her was quite disrespectful in my eyes, at no point did she provide us with great serving qualities to even deserve a tip, so to make an executive decision for us on selecting a tip amount was shocking to me and even after i payed and gave a tip which she didn’t deserve on any terms. She continued to do the same thing to my brother at that point, i stepped in and adjusted his tip amount to 0. You don’t dictate your tip amount, the customer which an this particular situation would be me and my little brother makes that decision. This was a very bad outing to say the least. I will not...
Read moreBaja Tacos and Shots is situated right on the corner of Spruce Hills Drive and Middle Road, right next to the new Hungry Hobo location. I drive by the area semi frequently, but had only recently noticed the presence of Baja. After work one night, I decided it was time for some tacos (it was also conveniently, a Tuesday, so there's that too).
I got seated relatively quickly upon entering and settled into my table. What was first striking about the interior was, surprisingly, the table itself. I don't think the chairs were any lower than normal, so I'm convinced the table surface itself is just a bit higher in elevation. While it felt odd, I did appreciate this later (more on that in a bit).
After a brief wait to peruse the menu and take in the otherwise sparse interior of the restaurant space, a very friendly server came with chips and salsa and took my order. On this night I opted for the Tacos Azteca, which include a combination of asada, Al pastor, and chorizo meats.
After a few minutes I had my three tacos and started to tuck in. For just randomly deciding to get tacos at this place, I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed these! The meat was tender and cooked to perfection and the tortillas had that distinct chew and texture that only homemade will have.
If you like street tacos, you absolutely have to try this place. I moved back to the QC area about two years ago and hadn't yet found a place that makes tacos like my favorite spot in Eastern Illinois. I'm genuinely looking forward to many more future visits....
Read moreI am very disappointed in this place and it saddens me that my experience was so bad. I went there twice. The first time I went there, it was wonderful. So wonderful I decided to go back and was met with the worst experience ever. I will never go back. My family and I went 30 minutes after they opened and ended up being there for over 2 hours. Our waitress never came to check on us and never refilled our beverages. There was a disgusting piece of chicken in my food that made me lose my appetite and I could not finish my meal. When our waitress came with the bills, we had already waited 20 minutes after finished our meals. Then when she came to collect our payments, we were informed their Wifi was down and they could not accept cards. No one made us aware of this before ordering our meals. Our waitress told us she was going to go talk to a manager and would be right back. While waiting, we saw her going around to all the other tables and avoiding ours. She then proceeded to come back to our table, without a manager, and asked if we were ready to pay. We, again, told her we had cards and had no cash on us. She then told us to wait a minute while she talks to a manger. Another 20 minutes goes by and my friend got up and had to go find the manager. Our waitress was never going to her manager or trying to find...
