Hole in the wall taqueria. Entered with low expectations. But easily, one of the best taqs in the Tri-Valley area. Prices were good, ($11) for a regular burrito (I had the shredded chicken) w/refried beans and no rice. Protein was about 60% of the burrito and the beans/40% were excellent too. $2 for a can of soda (cold). Salsa bar was solid (included 4 different salsas, pickled jalapenos/onions and hot onions - nice heat w/these). My burrito was ready in less than 3 minutes (not busy when I was there). Folks were nice and appreciative I bused my trash and tray. I gave 5-stars because it was that good. My only negative (and I didn't deduct for it), was the the actual burrito was narrow but there was still plenty in it. I also heard when John Madden was alive, he would visit here often. Makes sense, since he lives down the street from here.
Edit: ate lunch here and ordered my usual (shredded chicken regular burrito, no rice). Food was fine. However, I found a large bone piece (looked like a leg-bone with an edge to it, so one end was a jagged edge). It was about 1.5 inches long and about 1/2 inch in circumference. How the burrito-maker missed removing this bone out of my burrito, is beyond my comprehension? Now, it was big enough, where I caught it, when biting down into my burrito but I was a bit surprised when I pulled it out of the burrito. I didn't want to make a fuss about it, so I did not bring it up to the counter. I instead, put my dish in the dirty-dish container with the bone/fragment in the middle of the dish, when I bussed my dish at the end of my meal. Previously, I've found bone fragments (very small) in the shredded chicken but none this big. What this tells me, is whomever is making the burritos, is not paying attention to keeping all/any bones out of the shredded chicken. I have expensive dental-work and I don't want to choke on any bones, so I am probably not going to return. I just can't afford choking and/or breaking that dental-work, eating lunch (or any time, for that matter). I also lowered my 5-star rating to 3. This kind of thing could...
Read moreThis was our go to spot for weekly breakfast burritos but you can thank Alejandro for making us take our business elsewhere. Whenever he takes our order, it always is missing items, or burrito orders are incorrect. Instead of correcting our order, he would rather argue and escalate the issue. Great way to lose a loyal customer and our crew of 7. We always support small businesses but not when they rip off their customers by over charging, under delivering, arguing and the keeping the incorrect food without giving us a full refund as promised. Apparently they need the money more than we do but don't worry, a charge back is coming soon. Ownership should be embarrassed....
Response to ownerships response: Next time dont call your customer a "Pendejo" thinking they don't understand Spanish. Also don't have the cooks rush the customer in aggression thinking the customer is just going to run out the door because none of the staff there can read an order ticket correctly. Real tough guys 3 vs 1 over a basic breakfast burrito issue that could have easily and peacefully been resolved, had Alejandro wanted to. Alejandro's pride and poor judgement calls, caused the unnecessary escalation. The little female worker who stepped in knew Alejandro messed up when he used profanity and instantly regretted it. His tough guy attitude...
Read morewish i had found this place earlier. I love Mexican food.
place is clean and service is friendly.
i had an Al Pastor Burrito. very good. they also have a nice selection of salsas. the one labeled spicy really is spicy.
i shall be returning here many more times. can't wait to explore more items on the menu.
edit ok i have since returned twice since the original review and i am still equally satisfied. the second time i got a Torta. Al Pastor. it was very good. all the delicious messiness i love in a torta with plenty of grilled onions on fresh bread. it was big, it was delicious, it was messy. love it!
the next time after that i got a super burrito. this time i got the BBQ chicken. now most taquerias have either chicken, (which is shredded chicken,) and grilled chicken which is usually seasoned and then grilled. but BBQ chicken? i had to try it. it was very good. it had a red looking sauce lightly coating it and taste excellent! i asked for jalapenos to be put inside the burrito. and they put fresh sliced jalapenos. nice and spicy how i like. i will get the BBQ chicken again. also this super burrito is pretty big, so if you have a big appetite this is a good one for you. i may cut it in half next time and have it...
