Wayne's Sushi Bistro — Restaurant in Pleasanton

Had to change my review, came in with a party of 5, i asked a female worker if I could have a table ready for 5 people, didn't reply or anything just walked past me, then she told my friend that it looked like we didn't like the service because we didn't tip well, like who says that, plus we come in like 3 times a week and spend more than 80 dollars sometimes over 100 and we would tip 20% and for her to say this to us I'm sorry but I will not be returning to this establishment anymore and if you want to get seated make sure you tip more then what it's expected or she will just tell that you could take the order to go I'm so disappointed because I'd loved this place but unfortunately will not be returning because of what...

First comment is that service is very poor. The Chinese server lady was not very friendly and stared at us blankly when we asked for sushi roll recommendations.

Second, not sure but it many be Chinese owned and not a Japanese owned restaurant. This would not be an issue normally except for the service experience as noted above.

Third, the ambience was ok but the western music played was too loud. Not sure why have football game playing on a large tv. Again, takes away from the experience.

Finally, food is ok which is why I rated as three stars. The tofu appetizer was delicious, as was clam miso soup. However, the Salmon Lovers Roll that I ordered was not that tasty, and too expensive $15 for the 8pc...

We found this place while looking for a new sushi spot and we were not disappointed. It’s a small restaurant but the staff is so friendly and welcoming. It was our first time and although their English wasn’t very good they did their best to recommend some rolls and tell us the special. The rolls are huge and so are the sashimi pieces. All the fish was super fresh and they came out relatively quick but didn’t feel like they were made in a rush. Bathroom was clean and overall it was a pleasant experience.
