What can be said about Conca D’oro Pizza other than a full-throated Wow ?
I’m a Pizza Snob, who has lived all around Pittsburgh his entire life, and has tried them all. And I must say that this modest somewhat hidden unassuming pizzeria called Conca D’oro is the very best that can be had in ALL of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Their pizza is quite simply perfect. A truly hard to improve upon pizza: think Old-World Authentic Italian Pizza.
The crust is magnificent (reminds me of fresh Mancini’s bread coming out of the oven in the early 1970’s in their McKee’s Rocks bakery...before they fell down a peg). Conca D’oro Pizza crust is a true rarity amongst pizza crusts these days. Hard to find ! I would say that 95% of pizza shops in southwestern PA make substandard crusts. Not this shop !!
Now their sauce is exactly as it should be - not sweet but reasonably spiced towards the oregano end of the spectrum (take notes Fiori’s...sheesh). It’s not salty either (Veltri’s). My pet peeve is bland pizza sauce. I will not tolerate it (Napoli’s). I order extra sauce on Conca D’oro Pizza not because they don’t give you enough - but because it’s that good ! Can I order extra crust to ? 😂😂
Their toppings are fresh, and the sausage topping is unusually good (it’s spicy-Yes!). If I wanted breakfast sausage I would go to Denny’s (you hearing this Ceasars, Pizza Hut, Fox’s, etc.?).
Their pizza is not greasy as pizzas go (take notes Mineo’s - Yeah im talking to you big fella). So no need for Rolaids
I’m left wondering how Conca D’oro subs and sides stack up?? But I just can’t get off their pizza! For 25 years of patronage, I have never ordered anything other than their pizza. How could I ? Would be like cheating on your wife !

Read moreWas looking for a better pizza and we found the spot. Had to order 2 large pies to get a good sample. Got full pepperoni with half onion on the first. Fair amount of pepperoni with delicious curled edges and lots of fresh onion with just the right amount of crunch. Pie 2 was a white pizza with all tomato. Spinach and sausage on half. It was absolutely fire. Loaded with fresh spinach that was chopped nice and small to not over power. The sausage is homemade and a great topper on the white. I must say that the service was super friendly from the call to place our order to pick up in only 35 min on a busy Sunday afternoon. Definitely going back and can't wait to try other things. They are a cash or check only business and I fully...
Read moreGot a "large" pizza which was the size of everyone's medium. Wings were whole wings but more pigeon sized. They did give me 10 instead of 6 because they were so small. Pizza was along the lines of gas station pizza. All tolled it was $55. Large pizza, 6 wings and a half hoagie. $55. Super disappointed and will never be there again. I'm a 45 year resident of plum and used to go there alot. It's been years since I've eaten there. It's taken a serious downward fall on food taste and quality. As far as I'm concerned, it right up there with Anthony's coal fired pizza as to what you get for your money and quality. They both are no go...
