Our experience at the restaurant started off on a disappointing note. We arrived at 9:24 PM and noticed the hostess engrossed in a conversation with another couple. By the time she directed them to the bar, it was 9:30 PM when we approached her, only to be informed that they no longer seated guests after that time. That would have been fine had we arrived after 9:30 PM.

We inquired about placing a carry-out order, but we were informed that they didn't accept such orders after a certain time on weekends. Frustrated by our limited options, we noticed two empty seats at the corner of the bar—or so we thought. We asked the hostess if we could order at the bar instead, and she granted us permission, but warned us that we had a mere 5 minutes to do so since it was already past 9:35 PM, and their service would cease.

As we approached the bar, we discovered that the women sitting on either side of the empty chairs had opted to use them for holding their purses rather than utilizing the purse hooks under the bar counter. Despite our attempts to request the seats, we were ignored. Eventually, the bartender came over and informed us that we only had a couple of minutes to place our order before swiftly attending to other tasks.

Realizing we had limited time, we returned to the hostess stand to grab a menu since one hadn't been provided to us initially. As we perused the menu, the bartender ended up bringing us menus as well. Given the negative experience we had from the moment we entered, we didn't feel inclined to stay and dine. I asked the bartender if we could have our food to go, and he confirmed that we could. However, this contradicted what the hostess had just told us about not being able to order food to go.

Being extremely rushed to make a decision and order, we decided to just share an appetizer, but to our surprise, they doubled our order without informing us, which we only discovered upon receiving the bill. Thankfully, it worked out in this instance because the appetizer portions were insufficient for sharing. After receiving our food, we quickly checked the bags and containers, took a bite, and promptly left. Unfortunately, the food turned out to be extremely dry, further contributing to our disappointment.

Perhaps the greeting, atmosphere, and food quality are better earlier in the evening, before it gets close to closing time. We hope that others have a more enjoyable experience at...

Food is always awesome but I'm stuck with the fiesta bowls because they don't serve Chimis. First time, margaritas were in small glasses, 2nd time they were in a highball/Collins glass. For 44 dollars for 4 of them you'd expect a large margarita glass. Bartender was unsure of what Jose Cuervo Gold was and gave us something random. Bummer. -Bartender UPDATE: 12/28/24 Went back for 3rd time, back to small glasses. I decided to do the math on the total in drinks this time, trying to understand why 6 margaritas with Jose Gold are 72 dollars. Huh!? That's because they're $12 a piece! Are you kidding me!? Jose is a CALL liquor, as in 2nd row "well" as in one up better than cheap hangover well liquor. We just replaced 3.5 of their 5ths of jose gold that means, we just paid 72 dollars for them to make about a $700 profit. Wow! I'd hate to see what a Patron or Julio margarita costs. But only some people are dumb enough to use high end tequila in a margarita. 30 yrs bartending in all areas like Brighton, Novi, Royal Oak and downtown Detroit have I never saw a Jose Gold margarita for 12 dollars. Plus the "sour mix" taste of way overly sweet margarita mix they probably make there to cut costs, is way too much! Bring a Kool aid packet if you go to turn it into a tropical punch margarita. Either way it turned me off from there today. As for 10pm Saturday night bartender service, we all know getting side work done so you can walk out at 1105pm is how we want it done but to ignore your customers, never clear any plates, or ask if we want anything else mins before the kitchen closes being we ordered two apps only, costed you a 50 dollar tip like we normally pay on a 100 tab. You're lucky my fiance is too nice and you got the typical 20%. Always treat every customer like they're an industry worker because you never know who is really paying attention and adding or deducting by the minute. Salsa is too hot for normal people, tone it down. Next time I'll take my 72 dollars and go buy me a...

Got here past 10 on a Saturday night. I was offered a seat at the bar (which had plenty of open chairs) or a table. I chose a booth and was seated right away. Not having a lot of time i orders a streak fajita platter. It came with rice, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, cheese, grilled jalapeno, pico de gallo, and 6 small tortillas (choice of corn/wheat/3 of each). I asked for wheat tortillas and no sour cream or cheese. I barely got back from the restroom and my food had arrived. It was sizzling hot and smelled delicious! The quantity was enough that I could have taken some home but I was really hungry. It took me some time to finish it all. I left two of the tortillas and some of the pico de gallo. I'm a big guy and I was more than full. Service was fast and friendly. I think my waitress could tell that I was hungry so she mostly left me alone other than checking on me a couple of times quickly to make sure I didn't need anything else. I manage to finish before closing time. I hate to keep people waiting. The restaurant is located in a "yuppie" (I don't mean that in a derigirotary way) shopping area where there are many other eateries like it. That's a lot of seating - an upper level as well. Nearly all the tables and booths were full even at that late hour. There are two TVs at the bar showing a football game. Places large enough that it doesn't really get very loud - at least it wasn't loud when I visited. The food was almost five stars but I couldn't give it five stars because I've tasted better Mexican food at similar establishments. If I could give it four and a half stars I would. They have a pretty expansive drinks menu. Unfortunately I could not try anything because I was driving long distance. If you like Mexican food then I don't think you'll be disappointed with this place. Prices are pretty...

Location: We ate at Barrio Cocina y Tequileria yesterday, and it’s such a cute spot in downtown Plymouth. Parking was easy with plenty of street options, and the restaurant wasn’t crowded, which made for a relaxing experience. Food: We kicked things off with the triple dip appetizer, and everything tasted super fresh—I especially loved the queso! For drinks, I tried the appleciderita, a seasonal special. It was really sweet, but I think a touch of ginger or cinnamon could’ve taken it to the next level. I ended up liking the raspberry mojito (not pictured) more—it was delicious and super refreshing. For my main, I went with the Birria Quesadilla. It was solid, with four generous pieces served alongside guacamole and sour cream. The only downside was the sauce it came with—it was way too salty. Also, heads up, the salsa is an extra charge. Since the quesadilla doesn’t include sides, I added rice and elote. The rice was a letdown—some of it was undercooked and bland, though adding salsa helped. The elote was even more disappointing—no real flavor, no cotija cheese, and it taste like it was made from canned corn. Service & Ambience: Our waitress was super sweet and quick, which was a plus! The ambience really stood out too—cozy, vibrant, and perfect for a night out. Overall, Barrio has a great vibe and some good options, but the sides definitely need work. Still, it’s worth checking out for the atmosphere and a fun drink!
