I had a Door Dash order with the Chicken Vindaloo at mild spice and the Lamb Bhuna at a mild plus spice level. When I got my food it was so spicy that I couldn’t eat it and I normally get medium spice for these dishes and I can handle it. I called the store and presented the issue to them and all the man said was that mild is no spice so it’s not spicy. When I explained that I knew that and that I’ve ordered these dishes before at mild level and what I received wasn’t mild he kept trying to cut me off and wouldn’t listen to what I was saying. He preceded to argue with me and I said I can bring the dishes to the store if you want to try it and see and he said sure. I get to the store and talk to one of the hosts and she says the same thing that he said and completely ignored the fact that I have ordered these dishes multiple times at the mild spice level. She went back and got the guy and he preceded to argue with me again. He was saying that in the future I need to go to Door Dash for order issues, which I would have done if he said that on the phone, and I said I understand that but you should’ve told me that on the phone and not have me drive to the store. He eventually had my food my food remade but the customer service was terrible. They deflected and ignored my issues for them to remake my food like I wanted. If there was nothing could do on their news he should have told me that first instead of arguing with about how he made the food and it was no spice. All I can from this experience I will never go here again the food is great but the customer service is terrible. I currently work at White Castles and I worked as a server before then so I make sure that I treat people in the food industry with the upmost respect, but this is the first time I have ever had to argue with the staff of a restaurant when there was a problem with my food. I highly don’t recommend this place unless you want to waste your...
Read moreA friend and I stopped by Pakwaan on a Saturday afternoon after hearing all the hype and wanting to try it out.
It was my first time in Downtown Plymouth, and as expected for a Saturday at lunch, it was crazy packed. Parking can be difficult if you can't find a spot along the main aisle directly outside the restaurant. I will say, even if you do get a spot in this area, you may be stuck for a while while trying to get out, as people seem to be totally unable to quickly back out of their parking spots and understand basic traffic flow. (/tangent)
I was expecting the restaurant to be equally packed, but surprisingly there was only one other group inside... in fact during the entire duration of our lunch, only 3-4 groups were ever present at the restaurant at a given time. This may have been a red flag that I should have heeded, but I was still optimistic that we were just lucky that a buffet restaurant wasn't too busy.
The buffet itself resembles less of a deliberate buffet and more of something that could be set up by a catering company at an office lunch. The options are not as numerous as you'd find at other Indian buffets, even in the Metro Detroit area. The taste of the food is OK overall, I'd give it a 3/5 for quality/ appeal.
Keto/ Low-Carb folks, there are really few options here for you, but you can make it work. The Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken, and Paneer dishes are suitable, but after eating 2 rounds of each, I didn't have the best taste left in my mouth.
Ultimately, if you need Indian food badly, and it has to be in Plymouth, it might be worthwhile to check out Pakwaan. Otherwise just make the trip to one of the many other Indian Buffets...
Read moreFor all the hype around this place, I thought I was going to be blown away, but it was mediocre at best. I had heard that the restaurant has the same cook from Shalimar in Ann Arbor-great food- so was excited to try out some dishes on the menu. We ordered the sesame gobi for starters, which was way too sweet and was more of an American-Chinese General Tso’s sauce than the Gobi Manchurian flavor I was hoping for. For mains, we ordered the murgh korma, paneer tikka masala, garlic naan, kashmiri naan and goat biryani. I was disappointed majorly by the biryani, which was served completely undercooked. Biryani should never be wet, but this was really mushy. Not to mention, not as flavorful as I would have hoped given all the reviews. The paneer tikka masala was quite sad, very bland and generic. The murgh korma was the highlight of the meal, which went great with the garlic naan. The kashmiri naan, which I was expecting to be sweet-savory, turned out to be a “dessert naan”, filled with a sweet chutney. Didn’t really pair well with anything we ordered.
The decor was very classy and the service was adequate. Perhaps we would have been more satisfied if we had ordered something else, but these are staple dishes you normally can’t go wrong with.
Didn’t live up to the expectations I had, sadly.... I’m not sure where all the rave reviews are coming from (certainly not foodies), but I would say the flavors are more catered towards the...
