I am sorry to have to write this review. Came in this morning with my adult son just about 7:30 am. There was just one other customer dining and us in the restaurant. I have been here about 6 times in the past. I ordered the hippie hash w/ mushrooms and two poached eggs on the side, the gal said that they can't make regular poached eggs ???? Hmmm, that was not expected, she in turned said that they can make them by breaking them in a little water and cooking them in something life a frying pan on top of the griddle... again I was just a bit taken back, like how hard is it to have the equipment to make poached eggs?? This is a breakfast place after all. I went along with it, well they came out like over easy eggs, not poached. Okay, I decided to go along and enjoy after all. I will go out on a limb here and say that my hippie hash had at tops a 1/4 of one stalk of asparagus in it, maybe all of one sliver of onion and the mushrooms that I paid extra for was the equivalent of maybe 1/5 of a small button mushroom. It was at best hash with specs of brown, green and clear/light yellow... hence the vegetables. My son ordered the breakfast special of 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, and 2 pieces of bacon with a large glass of fresh squeeze oj. First off his eggs and bacon were brought out 4 minutes before his pancakes, lol. Eggs were supposed to be scrambled with cheese, they were basically a cheese omelette, bacon was now even warm. When the pancakes came out his eggs were now cold, the pancakes looked nice, however the outside was too crispy that he could actually peel the top layer of pancake right off the rest of it. Needless to say that my son's dog not only got my sons breakfast this am when we came home that the dog received a 6.00 + breakfast. As far as the oj, over 1/3 of it was foamy. They are opening a new place at 5 mile and Haggerty... lol. I don't know why when this location needs attention. I will NEVER waste my money here again. I live within walking distance too, Crawford's in Old Town would NEVER let this leave there kitchen for a guest. What has happened to this place ;( what a waste of...
Read moreI came to this cafe after reading all the great reviews. After having some breakfast and checking this place out, I honestly don't understand the hype. Here is an honest review of my experience.
Service: Upon entering, a lady asks you to come to the register and order food. This is very inefficient to a customer who likes to read through the menu and order. The order felt rushed. Other reasons why I wasn't impressed with service:
They ask you to take your cups, silverware, and others to your table. What about those who have laptops, coats, or anything else to carry? Customers only have two hands, and seldom do you find some who know how to balance dishes on their heads while walking...
Food: I truly don't understand the food hype in some other reviews. My gluten-free waffel was a bare waffel covered in fruit and nuts. Nothing too special looking or tasting. Customers might as well wip some waffle mix out of a GF bag at home for cheaper. Same taste.
Price: Prices are similar to those of other cafes in the area.
Ambiance: There is none. Place visibly needs a lot of TLC and some extra cleaning. Chatter might be loud sometimes, so working here is not an option.
Parking: Lots of free parking spots around the Cafe. That's where my 1 star came from.
Conclusion: Having been a frequent visitor to cafes in the Livonia and Plymouth areas, I don’t recommend this place.. It might be better checking out other cafes or if for remote work, head to the absolutely gorgeous and intrinsically designed Plymouth...
Read moreCame here for brunch on a chilly Saturday morning. Thought downtown Plymouth would be empty but it is the Ice Sculpture Festival weekend and it was packed!
Had to find street parking because the associated parking lot was charging money due to the ice sculpture festival.
We were fourth in line when we walked in, but the line moved quickly. We were able to order quickly and were informed it'd be a couple minutes wait for us to get our table, and the servers were quick in seating us.
Ordering food was quick and easy and we did it at the front cashier. Restaurant had a nice, cozy diner feel (think Luke's from Gilmore Girls, as downtown Plymouth looks like Stars Hollow).
We ordered coffee and it was nice, basic coffee. I was looking at getting the Guernsey's hot chocolate, but was informed they ran out of packets.
Food came out quickly after being seated and was fresh and hot. Our food, as well as all our neighbors' food, looked very tasty. When I took the first bite of the omelet, I literally exclaimed, "IT'S SO FLUFFY!" (obviously in the Despicable Me character voice). We got the Hawaiian omelet with egg whites and the #2 breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was really good too as they used fresh avocado and thick pieces of ham. Made it extra tasty with Frank's Red Hot sauce.
Service was great. Nice, clean place. Not too loud and fun location as it's close to the downtown Plymouth Main St and cute boutiques. Perfect place to come to if you want to indulge in a little...
