The Cookie Lady's Cafe — Restaurant in Point Pleasant

We are in complete shock and not in a good way. We have been to the Cookie Lady before and have enjoyed it. However, my family went for breakfast today. The food was good, all orders containing omelets for adults and silver dollar pancakes for the kids along with coffees and chocolate milks. The typical breakfast order anywhere. I was the only one out of 3 adults to receive toast with their omelet and we did not get a drink that we asked for. Fine. But what shocked us the most WAS THE PRICE of our breakfast at the end. $128 FOR BREAKFAST? Eggs and small silver dollar pancakes? That’s outrageous! That is more of the price of a steak dinner! Needless to say, we will not be going back. We will be sticking with Pizza Express across the street where the price is 90% less than at the Cookie Lady. We also won’t be recommending just due to the prices alone.

Ok I can’t leave a reply so I just want to say, yes of course the difference is not 90% I truly apologize for exaggerating (however based on your online menu prices it seems that we were overcharged) and I am not the type of person to cause trouble. What I was most concerned with (which I think made me the most frustrated to write this) is the fact that as a person who is required to be gluten free and requested my toast on the side (as my mom mentioned) I received it on my eggs and potatoes which caused contamination. Thankfully I am asymptomatic so I was not required to send it back and I did not complain further but at the same time it has an impact on me. So I hope that you will take more careful consideration for those with food allergies in the future. I really do wish your business well and also hope that you see the extension of our experience which my mom pointed out on a separate...

In addition to my daughter's review I have to make a few corrections. The food at the Cookie Lady was very good. However, we did not leave a $3 tip on a $128 order if that is what your server told you. We actually left an $8 tip. The tip had nothing to do with the price of eggs but everything to do with the service. The servers were very nice but once we got our food we never saw anyone again. No one came back to offer more coffee, we had my grandson get up to see if he could find someone so we could tell them we were done and needed containers, and my daughter got a receipt for her bill but I didn't get one for mine even though they had asked if I wanted one. My grandson ordered apple juice and got orange juice (they nicely changed it), I ordered a spinach omlet and got a mushroom omlet and did not complain. It was delicious, however, I did not get the toast that was supposed to come with it and neither did my daughter. My other daughter who is gluten free did get her toast (she was going to give to her nephew) But instead of the toast being on the side like she requested- she received it on her omlet and potatoes. Also, when we came home I added everything up from your menu online and the total I got was $57.60 without tax. At the restaurant the bill was $86. So, I believe we were mistakenly overcharged but we paid it and wish your small...

So it was my first time trying here and I was rather disappointed.... whenever I try a new place and get breakfast the first thing I get is a cup of coffee and I can usually judge the food by how good or not the coffee is.... in this case the coffee was kind of bitter and not very hot at all.... on to the food.... I ordered biscuits and gravy which consisted of 2 halves of biscuits with some sausage gravy.... also got a side of bacon.... first off I feel the price for two biscuit halves with a little bit of sausage gravy was kind of expensive at $8.... it was tasty but nothing special.... as far as the bacon goes I ordered it specifically very Crisp.... it came to me rubbery and fatty.... I don't normally send food back one because I expect to get what I ordered and two because I've seen what happens to food when it gets sent back.... it's a judgment call.... The one good side is that the staff is very friendly.... but from my experience the food needs to be better prepared and priced a little better.... now I can't speak for all their food but again I am basing my review on my experience.... would I recommend this place?.... I would have to say at best half-and-half.... I hope this...
