Took my grands in there today after visiting the nearby parks. Thought we would finish off our afternoon out with some ice cream. The price was prety much what we paid last week at a shop in Ames where we'd had a great time. The quality was markedly different, as was the attitude of the staff. Maybe the man and the teenaged female were having a bad day. We all have bad days, but if you are in the service busineess with people dropping 25 bucks for a treat on a 90 degree day you put on a smile none-the-less. The kids asked for some water, and they looked ike it was killing them to get it. The worst part was the ice cream. It is supposed to be hard-serve ice cream. Read moreSpending the week at Prairie Flower. Finally not raining. Decided a bicycle ride was in order. Came to Polk City and found an energy replacement spot Rising Sun Cafe. Greeted by the owner when entered . She is super! Brief history on the place Took our order then headed into the kitchen to cook. Oh yeah! I was eyeing the pastries but knew I had to finish my meal before a treat. We ordered the waffle platter for her and pancake for me. I added extra eggs and bacon. Butter is actually butter and not frozen waiting to melt in the next heat wave. Good tasting on the waffles and pancakes. Stellar service, and delicious everything. No clue on the pastries though Didn't finish my meal. Those dang muffins will...
