Awa Na Kava and Hookah Lounge — Restaurant in Pompano Beach

Normally, I have positive feedback when I review an establishment, unfortunately in this case, I wanted to share my negative experience after visiting what was supposed to be a relaxing venue a few times recently. A long-time friend brought me here to try kratom for the 1st time and the initial visits were a pleasurable experience. My friend is a regular here and spends quite a bit of money almost on a daily basis. Not only does he buy himself one or more beverages, etc. He generously treats the friends he routinely refers, including his mother and he even goes about and beyond by treating other monetarily challenged regular patrons in addition to providing food for events without requiring any type of credit and/or reimbursement. That being said, my friend extended an invite to myself and another long-time friend to their Superbowl party and opened up a tab and told us to order whatever we wanted. Upon entering the establishment the staff insulted my friends generosity and myself by mistaking me for someone else and telling my friend that I basically wasn't welcome there because allegedly I came there previously without my friend and was under the influence and nodding which 1 is not true and 2 even if it was, that is hypocritical to say the least. They are mostly if not all former opiate users still trying to feel something other than sober and they should in fact welcome any and all, especially if someone is trying to find something that keeps them from being imprisoned by mood altering drugs. When I attempted to bring the issue to the owners attention, it was met with a total lack of regard. My resulting decision is to never return or to refer anyone....

Literally this review has nothing to do with the Kava Bar in Pomapno. It's for the review for the Coral Springs Location. There was an over bearing girl working there last night. Very pushy and demanding. So I said in my review there that I like the atmosphere and people are chill. But the girl working last night was very over bearing and pushy. She replied to the review and said " it would hurt business if I don't message them directly" it makes me feel like this location deletes anything close to what they don't consider a perfect review. But that is what reviews are for. The customer being honest about their experience. Well they turned off my ability to review on their page and I was not able to reply with my idea of where I'm coming from. I'm sure this location in Pompano is fine. But now I feel very skeptical about the coral springs location. I'm not sure if the same people own both locations or not. But if this is how coral springs acts when they get an honest review, I'm speculative of who they consider...

The place was great but I only saw one problem that really bothered me. I was at the bar and up came this younger looking guy, maybe mid 20s. He sat down and waited for service. A female employee walked up and gave him a menu and said she’ll be right with him. When she came back he said something along the lines of he was looking for a purchasing manager or owner because he wanted to pitch them something. The lady told him and I quote “get up, get out and don’t come back.”

I once dated a girl in college who treated wait staff poorly and I knew I couldn’t be with this girl long term and this is the same vibe I got. Went a few times and won’t be back. I can’t support a business who treats people so poorly. The guy is just trying to make a living, why disrespect him like that? Great product but won’t be back...
