POMPANO BEACH CULTURAL CENTER (PBCC) AND SOME ADA ACCESS INFO
There you’ll find the PB’s main library and the theatre.
The library is amazing, it’s more than a library! My kids love it! They also offer a variety of activities. Events/activities info is available on their website.
The theatre is a medium size venue, with vertical stair seats. The only ADA wheelchair accessible seats are located in the main level downstairs (entrance level).
The PBCC rents the venue, most of the shows are managed by private organizers, many of them may not be aware of the ADA accessible seats, it happened to me, and this is the reason for my review.
While trying to purchase ADA wheelchair accessible seats for an event in the theatre, these weren’t displayed in the promoter website venue’s plan for sale, instead, they were shown as VIP seats.
So, if you’re in need of ADA wheelchair accessible seats and would like to attend a show in this theatre, plan ahead and if you don’t see the seats as they’re supposed to, then contact the promoter/organizer directly, and inform them what’s going on. ADA accessible seats should be available for sale within standard price (not VIP).
If you need to contact the organizer, mostly you can find their contact info in the tickets’ website, social media, google, but also you can reach PBCC by phone and they might be able to guide you through. I learned about it thanks to the amazing staff at PBCC who assisted me when I needed to, while trying to reach...
Read moreThis was a waste of time for real, I visited for The House of Poe's Horrors immersive Poem reading. On Event bright website it was advertised that the event would be an hour and a half. I came nine minutes late due to an uber driver and I asked the employees waiting at the door and elevator if I could still catch the show or if I can wait for the next show.
I was told by multiple employees I was good to go and told me to take the elevator to go up to the 2nd floor. I went to the restroom when I saw a line at the event entrance door. When I came back out the line were gone and the ushers sent me in.
I liked the haunted horror house, I screamed my head off and cried. The actors made me laugh since there were so much jump scares. The end of the haunted house opened out into a room where the event seating area was held, I looked at my phone for the time.
It was 5:15, 15 minutes from the event starting. A preformer came up, said his Poe poem and that was it. 5:30 and the event was done. Three major dings: false advertising for the duration of the event, employees not allowing me to stay for the 5:30 show since I was a few minutes late and they knew there were a 30 minute show, and lastly why the haunted horror house and then the poem performance readings?
Strange setup for this event and not what I expected at all. Wont be back. Didnt even take pictures inside I...
Read moreI wish I could give this event, "The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year" a zero.
This should have been called “The NIGHTMARE Before Christmas”.
I treated my daughter to this event. I was embarrassed at this debacle I brought my adult daughter to.
This was a shameful display of a “show”. We lined up like cattle to get our food. Servers dribbled a pittance of food on our plastic plates. Beverages were water and brown water. There was coffee with no cream, no sugar nor sweetener.
They neglected to inform our table of the show instructions. I guess we should have known that when people dressed in nonsense costumes running around screaming was to signify the start of the show.
Someone fell on the floor up front so I guess that was the murder. Being that he got up and walked behind the curtains, I guess he came back to life?
A woman in a Christmas outfit continued to yell things at another table. We could not hear what she was saying nor anyone else.
People started to leave. People around us and ourselves questioned what was going on. Was this put together right before the show start?
This was an absolute shame and utter disorganization.
WHAT A DISGRACE,...
