☆☆☆☆☆ **updated 1/26/25** Staff is friendly, happier and better service than ever. Some changes must have been made because you can feel the positive energy as soon as you come in. The food, delicious as always. Glad things were adjusted for better business!!! Everyone seems to leave happy and full!!!! Smiling faces all around. I believe the owner was there. They have a cool new toy for the kiddos to keep them entertained while eating. Thanks for all of the improvements. Will definitely be back!!! P.s. no left overs!!!!!! We ate it all 🤤 **old** I came here Sunday morning with my family to eat. We have been here a few times and LOVE the food. It's absolutely delicious. BUT what comes with good food is not so good service. The 2 servers were arguing when we came in the door. We have already had an issue with this server before being rude to us and rushing us through our order and messing things up. We figured we try it again to see if maybe the last few times she was just having a bad day. She sits us in the middle 3 tables for our party of 3. 2 of the tables, one of which my 6 year old daughter was sitting at, were dirty and obviously had just been eaten at and not yet cleaned. Fine. We took the napkin she put on the table to wipe it up a little as well as our own which was still wet under the menus from being cleaned. She was over at another table taking their order I could over hear her having her same usual attitude. When she finished she stormed away and said "Jesus Christ" under her breath like they were being the most difficult people in the world. She grabs our silverware returns to our table to give it to us sees we used one of the 2 napkins we had set for silverware to clean the table and she stormed off to get a new on and slammed it down on the table. At this point, I told my party of 3, we're going elsewhere to eat. I don't want ANYTHING to do with this place if she's there. I would love to return because the atmosphere, decor and the food is phenomenal, buy she is running the business into the ground. I hope the owner figures it out in time. 😔 P.S. it's the old lady possibly brunette or grey hair with glasses. Just in case it needed to be said, but I think we already knew who I was referring to.

I come from Jersey so diners are my thing. While visiting my family in South Florida I decided to seek out a diner for breakfast. I didn't want to eat at a chain like Denny's or anything close to that. I came across Nelson's Diner in Pompano Beach. They serve breakfast all day long. They are open Mon-Fri 6a-3p and Sat and Sun 7a-8p. The decor is very retro, cute warm and inviting. From the minute I walked in I realized this is no ordinary diner. I was immediately greeted by a friendly server. On the walls are all different kinds of famous Memorabilia and dedications to famous people. In one corner, there's a section dedicated to Elvis. The tables are retro and bright, red along with booths. It reminded me of a 50's style diner. I checked in on Yelp and I was able to get a free cup of coffee. For breakfast I ordered 2 eggs over easy with bacon and grits. It came with rye toast. The grits were really good and cooked perfectly. My mom ordered the exact same thing and she loved hers too. My bf ordered 2 eggs over easy with bacon and corned beef hash. He ordered whole wheat toast. He throughly enjoyed his breakfast. The coffee was delicious and hot. This place is located in a strip mall. There's free parking. If your looking for a diner setting, delicious food, in a cute setting with nice staff then this is the place to come.

Lighthouse Point, FL. My husband’s picky about diners because he was a short order chef in high school at one of La Habra’s finest and he took a bite of “Nelson’s Famous Biscuits and Gravy” and said, “Oh my goodness. You have to try this.” His brother took a bite and said, “Oh yeah. That’s the real stuff.” The sausage gravy is chock full of fine bits of good sausage with a slight sage flavor throughout. The gravy itself is full of sausage flavor. It’s not just white gravy with a few specks of sausage, it’s really sausage gravy. My brother-in-law said he liked Nelson’s pancakes better than his usual spot because these were thinner. They smelled amazing, like maybe a bit of yellow cake batter had been mixed in. When he bit into his well-browned sausage patty he grinned and said, “That has some kick to it!” The American diner atmosphere was spot on. One thing that stood out was the red booths and chairs were in great condition, no cracks. Spotless clean. Great servers too. We’re real happy we drove here. Great breakfast place.

We’ve been going to Nelson’s for years because we love the all day breakfast, it’s honestly been a staple of Pompano for the longest. My reason for the review today however is unfortunately a complaint regarding the middle aged dark haired woman (who never introduced herself so I’m not sure of her name). I’ve noticed in the past that she constantly complains, I’ve even noticed it to tables she was serving next to us in the past on several occasions. But for the last few weeks I’ve noticed it getting much worse specifically when she verbally scoffed when customers left a full glass of tea behind after they finished the meal and left. It made my husband and I feel so awkward but honestly just chalked it up to her being a generally unhappy person. But today took the cake for me… We sat outside and unfortunately, she was our server. Look I get that it’s summer in July in Florida but she literally complained about us sitting outside (which we did so because we had a small dog with us) about how hot it was for her to be outside and how she can’t believe we’d sit outside THE ENTIRE TIME FROM BEGINNING TO END. From the moment she greeted us until the moment we left. I mean the underhandedly rude comments were endless till the point I think I made It clear that she was making us uncomfortable and frankly starting to piss me off. There were other servers working at that point if it’s such an issue get someone else to take care of us.. but instead she just made us feel so uncomfortable that we just payed and left immediately after rushing through our meals as quickly as possible. Honestly that behavior from a service industry worker’s perspective is unacceptable and straight out disrespectful. We plan on coming back because the food is awesome and the rest of the staff is great but someone needs to have a conversation with this women to insure it doesn’t scare off customers...

So I’m not sure what has happened since the reviews in March..... but this definitely was not a great experience. When my husband and I walked through the front door we were not acknowledged, let alone greeted.... after a few minutes of standing there- a woman approached us and told us to sit at a table... she did not bring us to our table- just pointed and told us where to sit. Now it’s Sunday and I’m sure they have been very busy all day, my hubby and I came in around 12:30 pm- and the restaurant was by no means busy at that time. Our waitress was very abrasive, borderline rude. She did not have a name tag so I can not identify her. The food was ok- we just got eggs so can’t really mess that up right? The hash browns were not cooked well and tasted like cardboard, and the pancakes were not cooked through. We were served our food In increments.... almost 1 plate at a time... the waitress had to come back with the rest of our food. When I asked for honey- she said yes but them came back to the table 2 times when I asked again she responded “I didn’t forget I’m getting it now, just trying to make my rounds!” As we were served our breakfast we were also given our check- to me that’s the sign to hurry up and get out, what if we wanted to order something else? We also overheard some conversations with the other staff with customers and again was abrasive and rude- one waitress told an older gentleman that she “understands English and knows what he means”..... I was floored. So No I would not go back Bc the staff is...
