Viva La Pasta Trattoria — Restaurant in Pompano Beach

We discovered this little restaurant this week, what a great discovery. When you arrive you are offered a tray of fresh bread with olive oil imported directly from Italy (you can taste the difference) and an olive tapenade as well as bruschetta. They also offer a free glass of wine of your choice! The service is very good and the waiter very nice and attentive. The dishes are very very generous, be careful with the appetizers lol everything is fresh and of an outstanding quality! After talking with the Owner they told us that the majority of the products come directly from Europe which explains the tastes and quality 🤩 we took lamb and pasta. The lamb was unbelievably good and the pasta so good and well cooked!! The atmosphere inside is very warm, we feel at home. They also offer a 4 to 6 for 26$ all included. In short I recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. The only problem for us is that there was no Prosecco otherwise nothing to say. We will come...

Ok… here goes. I was so excited when I heard they opened. I was told that it was owned by the same owners as the original Viva La Pasta from the late 90’s. Well, it’s not and the server confirmed it when I asked.

The restaurant is small, cozy and inviting. Warm lighting and soft music set the tone. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, for me, this is where it ends. From the reviews, maybe it was just a bad night. Everything except the complimentary bruschetta and olive tapenade that arrives at the table was bland. Linguini Vongole had no taste. Portions were large but the food was just fair. Maybe I had visions of the old VLP with fresh homemade pasta… but the food this night just did not...

I took my family to this restaurant last night the amazing appetizers, salads and entrees were above and beyond what I expected. The temperature, high quality, strong Italian authentic fare was superb. The staff were incredibly attentive, caring and had incredible attitudes and personalities . My father who is one of the toughest food critics is already talking about returning next week. YOU WILL APPRECIATE: the attention, ambience and feel of eating in a family Italian kitchen.
