Extremely fast service if there is no rush, quality of food is very high with good portions and great consistensy, the restaurant is an old antique house that has been restored from the year 1860.
Five star chefs in the back (From Spain) excellent environment (live music and singers) and service, you could not ask for more this is a five star restaurant in point effect.
If you are visiting the area you should definitely try it out, it will not disappoint. Probably the rest restaurant in the area of "el pueblo" if not one of the top in the entire city. The owner is constantly there checking if everything is okay and therefore the staff is very well trained.
Ask for the specials and some off menu items like "queso frito" , "Mar y Tierra" and "Brisquet" (fine juicy tenderized meat, my favorite dish)
There are great choices for sauces for salmond and chicken like: reduced white whine, garlic sauce (al ajillo), alcaparra sauce, guayaba, parmesan cream cheese and sweet bbq among others.
The place is constatly being overlooked and supervized by the owner assuring the staff is well-trained and also assuring the food is fresh and good. Not every restaurant has the owner checking in making sure it is running smoothly therefore it's quality is much higher than most restaurants.
It also has a great selection of wines. The, wines come directly from the manufacturer in California. Many of their wines are back-to-back award-winning wines that are a favorite in the White House of the United States for multiple years even though the White House is supposed to only have one type of...
Read moreOn a scale from 1-5, if I could give 6 or 7 stars to Nispero, I would. I arrived in Ponce (from Humacao) the day after a major 6.5 earthquake in southern Puerto Rico. I had called my nearby hotel prior to arrival to ensure safety & operational status of the hotel, as I've lived through major earthquakes & understand their destructive power, but the reality was very different... I hadn't eaten since breakfast when I arrived around 8pm at hotel, the hotel's restaurants Lola & Melao were closed, and Ponce looked like a dark ghost town...
I called around & Nispero was one of only restaurants open that night in Ponce, the owner confirmed he'd wait for me & assured they were open and had working WiFi. I was never rushed, even though it was late, and all food was available to order. The food was amazing - I had chorizos in wine, caldo gallego, small churrasco & salad...all delicious, tasty, seasoned, cooked & served to perfection. Beyond that, the service was beyond compare by the owner, manager & staff. When communication outages created issues paying with Amex, they still helped me & just took the card info & passed the charges the next day.
When I was about to walk approx 4 blocks back to my hotel at 10:30 pm. the owner insisted on giving me a ride in his personal vehicle, going around dozens of road blocks and dropping me off right at the hotel's front door.
During a difficult time for many, the people at Nispero did everything to embody the concept of service. Thank...
Read moreWent yesterday to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Waitress with blue hair and hair clamp didn’t even welcome us and didn’t have good attitude. Never a smile. Nonetheless, i asked her which white wines they had by the glass. I asked her which Sauvignon blanc they served (she didn’t know) but I ordered it anyways. I was then brought a glass of red wine. I stood up and went to the bar area and kindly expressed that I didn’t order this, if they could make me a strawberry margarita instead. My strawberry margarita was undrinkable. EXTREMELY sweet and tasted like fruit punch. When she came back I told her if she could take it, I didn’t like it and instead just asked for a water bottle. Also, the food arrived cold and our waitress never asked once how our food came out. Lastly, when my bill was handed to me, they charged me for the margarita and I told her if it was possible to take it out since it wasn’t good and had to return it basically full, to which she replied “I can’t, since we already took out of your bill the wine glass” ???? Also, food was cold and in terms of portion and presentation, not worth $30 without any taxes or fees. The only good things I would say were the appetizers and the ambience outside. Would...
