We had high expectations of this place. We haven't had much luck with Mexican restaurants in Puerto Rico, but this "taqueria" was promising. At first glance, it seemed understaffed since I saw only two to three waiters for the entire restaurant, and the waiter interaction was scarse. I had to stad up just to order. The food was OK to average. It's definitely NOT authentic. What got me the most is the fact that: THEY CHARGE $1 FOR a a very small cup of SALSA (they charge for the chips, just in case you are wondering), but the salsa was the big one for us. I think they don't know the definition of a mexican taco. If you ask ANY Mexican or someone who knows a little bit about tacos, it is that they are with soft corn tortilla, cilantro, chopped onions, AND salsa. Them charging for salsa is like getting a car without tires. It's not an extra. It's part of it. I have traveled a lot, and I have never encountered that. I don't know if it was better to name this place like "Mexican inspired cuisine" rather than Mexican restaurant. Back to the food, the masa from the sopes was dry, and El Pastor meat was not what you would expect. The meat seems more like cube steak. The "trompo" cut was not there. This cut usually indicates that it came from the "trompo" and the cut is fresh. It looked like meat cooked regularly (with a sweeter kick) with a few chopped fresh pineapples. Sadly, it was not an experience as expected. So, if you are into average/mediocre Mexican food, this is your place. Definitely, the name "Taqueria" is misleading. I hope they can improve since there is...
Read moreThis was a wonderful experience to have in Puerto Rico despite it being Mexican food! I myself am Mexican from Florida and I was excited to be able to order a margarita and maybe some tacos. We walked towards the establishment and we're told that they wouldn't open for another hour. Seeing that we had a party of 15 they said to give them 30 minutes and they would have everything set up for us. They kindly let us in early and put together all the tables so we could fit. We only had one waitress and she worked her butt off! She took all of our drinks and we love them so much we kept ordering different kinds. The queso fundido deal was very good with the chips and then she actually brought out food for us to try in a little cup because we were indecisive about what to order. We end up going with the chicharrones in salsa verde! There was also three orders of chilaquiles Verdes and lots of tacos. Ultimately everyone was stuffed and there was definitely left over! Every single drink we ordered was amazing from the spicy Margarita to the Paloma. I know you could buy beer but you should definitely try their specialty drinks. Again, I don't know how the waitress did that all by herself so gracefully but she did so and it might have been one of our better experiences out of the 4 days...
Read moreI ordered the fresh guacamole and chips to start and sadly, the guacamole tasted anything but fresh. It was a bit soupy even, and lacked the flavor I had expected. For my entree, I ordered two chicken tacos which were fantastic so I definitely recommend ordering those! Also, the waitress was incredible. She had a very large table and the rest of the restaurant was filled with smaller tables and she took good...
