Sumo Hibachi Grill & Sushi — Restaurant in Pooler

Note: This is for the past two visits only, any other times were fine: My husband and I have always eaten the same thing there since they opened. The last 2 times the food has had some kind of added spice with the cooking, and it was hot! My stomach was on fire, and it has been messed up for five days now, my husband also. It is NOT a virus (to those who may say it is); it was definitely the food because we noticed the spicy flavor and immediately after eating our stomachs started with the burning and followed by bowel issues, to put it nicely. The food is expensive (considering they fill most every order with rice), we were hungry so we ate it, but no more, we will have to return to Seasons of Japan, or no Japanese food at all. We hate it because we've always loved their food. We would like to know if anyone else noticed the hot spice flavor in the food, maybe they've been cooking with something different (?),...

yeah so idk if this was a bad night for them or what, we usually do sushi hana but decided to give this place a try because of their good reviews and that was a mistake. The steak yakisoba was literally like beef jerky, the hibachi chicken and shrimp was gross, the shrimp were literally burnt like actually black on one side and the chicken was coated in their super thick and chunky teriyaki sauce when it was supposed to be hibachi. Even the volcano roll was over fried. I will say my rainbow roll was nice but everything else was disgusting. We spent $75 here and literally made my husband pay an extra $1 for some shrimp sauce. Not worth a second visit when there are too many other and better places in the area. Not to mention no soup or salad included w/an entree purchase. Go...

I love this place. It's a really great alternative to going to a sit-down hibachi dinner. I always get the express hibachi entrees. I've had it with shrimp, or steak or tofu and the sauces are very delicious. They are not stingy with the sauces. Great quick easy. And I also really like their dumplings. I've also gotten their soups which are great as well. And I absolutely recommend them as opposed to season of japan. For some reason why I go to season of Japan their food taste like cat food.
