Update: It’s been three weeks and although I the company replied under this review, I sent an email to the address provided and I haven’t heard anything back(even though they promise to respond within 48 hrs). I won’t be patronizing any of the franchises at this point. Original post: I’m new to the area and wanted to give this franchise a try. First time I ordered, there was hair in my food. Took it back, the manager apologized, but fixed the order. Gave them a second chance because my son loves Wayback Burgers and they are closer to our home. Welp, got the food home and it was completely wrong. 3rd and final attempt(because everyone has an off day or two) I called to place the order. I was left on hold. Even though I’m not feeling well, I went to the location(I’m still on hold by the way). When I got there and let the manager know I was still on hold, with an attitude she said they were backed up. It’s 7 people seated to eat. 😳 It could have been an apology and we move on, but the bad attitude did it for me. I’ll drive across town before I give them another penny. Especially seeing as how I could have gone to corporate from the very beginning. I chose to give them chances, but never again.

We ate here on Saturday evening and the first red flag was the tipping option at the register before we’ve even received any service at all. What am I tipping for? Or who am I tipping? Moving on from that, we decided that we were going to eat outside until we tested every outdoor table and they were not suitable to sit at because none of them were stable and all of them were filthy; so we moved inside, where we quickly realized none of the tables are wiped down or cleaned in between customers- every available table was sticky or had crumbs all over it. The drinks were awful, they had a terrible taste to them and you could tell other customers felt the same by the fact the ice was piled high in the machine from people dumping out their drinks and trying to find a drink that tasted good. From what I understand this is a newer establishment so I was shocked to see peeling paint and what appears to be water damage at the entrance. The food was subpar, definitely not what I experienced at Wayback Burgers in Hilton Head.

The only menu items I would recommend are the milkshakes. Additionally, it is sometimes difficult to order at this particular spot because the cashier usually has their back turned chatting with the cooks and won’t acknowledge customers until after they finish a personal conversation. Another time, a different cashier wasn’t knowledgeable about their menu at all and told me they do not sell hot dogs (they do). While you do get what you pay for, I would personally rather go to McDoanlds. Attached is a photo of the ā€œbacon cheese friesā€ I ordered as an example…missing the cheese completely. Burgers and hot dogs are sloppily put together and onion rings are soggy.

I remember when you first opened, it was booming! Crowded! After the last several visits, I decided to leave a review. Customer service is extremely important to me. I took my new employee to her orientation lunch there a few weeks ago. Walked in with no ā€œwelcoming feelingā€ I got a new salad bowl and never got a fork or the dressing. (Minor things, right?!). We joked about the empty dining space & how the food was just okay. Move forward, a few weeks later. We were on this side of town. Husband wanted burgers. It was the closest thing. Again, we use to dine here several years ago. Walked in to the same girl behind the register. Lack of care is an understatement. She didn’t even acknowledge we were there. Girl! If you hate your JOB, then QUIT! We walked in with our daughter and she didn’t even look up. She was busy on her phone. We literally waited for three minutes before we just started spitting out our order to her. Never once did she say ā€œhelloā€ or ā€œhow may I help youā€. Dear Ownership, Your business is failing because of the people you have at the front and back of the house! The lack of attention to detail and hospitality is severely lacking! You want to be different in a world of competition that is building around you (& I know you feel like you’re drowning…) then teach your team about servant leadership. I visited Wayback Burger for the first time yesterday and was disappointed with the service and handling of orders. When we asked the cashier for a recommendation, she smiled but didn’t offer any suggestions, which was a missed opportunity for a first-time customer. After placing our order and sitting down, my husband received onion rings instead of the fried pickles he ordered. A staff member promptly took the plate back. Meanwhile, I noticed my burger had bacon even though I did not order it that way. I decided I would eat it anyway and shared some fries with my husband. Shortly after, a young man came to our table, mistakenly identified me by name, and took both our plates. I observed him walk behind the register, exit through the back, and then serve our food to other customers in the lobby. This was very concerning, especially since I had already touched the fries and burger. I felt it was only right to inform the other customers of the mix-up, though I had already touched my food. The staff member should have taken the food back to the kitchen for a remake rather than serving it to others.This experience was uncomfortable and disappointing. I hope the management addresses these issues to maintain food safety standards and improve customer service. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to...
