Really disappointed with this establishment. This restaurant needs a Gordon Ramsey makeover. This experience is so bad .. I don’t even know where to begin. The poor waitress at our section needed a break, or some help. Some people are working hard , others are hardly working. I’ve had to rethink this review … because I don’t like to be mean. But when a patron comes in …. They are there to enjoy their time … not “Just get fed. “. My friend ordered some special drink off their menu , I ordered a margarita. Now. Neither of us had anything prior to coming there. She ate her salad and here comes our food. I had chicken fried chicken. She had steak tips. I had to send my plate back … because it just needed a proper funeral. All the while … I just really wanted a cold beer . We had a stressful day. My friend has been gone an unusually long time. I’m getting concerned. So … the manager comes and asked if she could get me something else to eat … because, she doesn’t want me to go hungry. I express that … it was ok , and I didn’t even like my drink I ordered. It was still sitting there. This entire time … my friend is sick in the bathroom! She was fine when we left home. She comes to the table , and looks like she got into a fight with a hornets nest. Now we have to go , because my friend needs an emergency room. I’m trying to get the manager back, it’s busy …. People are coming in … she’s ready to pass out. … I’m getting frustrated. … just need to go. I’m not about dine and dash…. But I’m ready to walk out. Finally.. the manager comes back. Now I have a problem. Told her my friend just got sick. Now I’m trying to be discreet, mind you. It’s 5:00. I said I’m not paying for anything. Manager says something about the booze. It’s all still sitting on the table. Manager is visibly peeved over this tab that I’m refusing to pay for … so I’m like “fine. I’ll pay for the booze “. That I didn’t even drink. She can’t figure out the cash register. Not ever concerned on the condition of my dinner companion…. But almost insinuating that maybe she was drunk ? …. Idk. Ya know. I’ve had bad food at restaurants. It happens. I’ve had bad service.. because they are under staffed. But .. it’s just bad when establishments don’t care about people. The people that enter and exit the doors, weather they work there or dine there. This alone will prevent me from ever Returning to Colton’s , wherever they may be....
Read moreThe 1 star is only because the food was good. If not for that, and if it were possible, this would be a zero star review. I simply do not believe in posting poor reviews unless there is something very troubling about our experience, this is exactly that type of experience.
We ordered take out here because we were traveling and stopped in town for an overnight on our way. I was actually quite shocked to walk into the waiting area to find 30-40 people tightly packed in while waiting for tables or for carry out orders. In this age of covid-19 protocols that have been proven to help reduce the spread of the illness, I quickly observed that absolutely none of these protocols were being followed by the staff of the restaurant and of the 30-40 guests waiting, a total of 3 of us wearing face coverings to help protect others from a possible transmission.
My surprise is that we were coming from a week in a nearby state that does require face coverings in public settings, and ordering take out food every night and not seeing a setting like I witnessed tonight at Colton’s. We also come from a home state that has a mask policy for public settings, and it has not affected the restaurant business in the least to require people to wear them while entering an establishment and while waiting for a table.
I understand that this city and county in Missouri do not have a government issued mask policy, but to not require your employees or customers to wear a face covering when not eating at a table and not practicing any sort of social distancing guidelines that are in place at most businesses in the country seems very irresponsible at least, for the safety of your employees AND your customers. With all of the scientific data and medical studies that have proven that face coverings and social distancing helps dramatically reduce the spread of viruses that can cause serious illness and possibly death of your neighbors, I just couldn’t believe what I saw. I have not seen a scene like this since before the outbreak of COVID-19 a year ago.
Simply very poor customer service in this time we find...
Read moreWe are from South East Texas and my husband was working in Poplar Bluff for the week. We were with another couple our friends and we Decided to try out Coltons Steak House. The location was easy to find right off of the main road. The atmosphere was nice, a rustic country look. You throw the peanut shells on the ground and that makes it fun!! I am sure the kids love it. It was Thursday and they were packed. We waited about 30 minutes so not that bad. When we were seated at the booth it was clean. Our food was AMAZING 👏 I have attached photos. We had onion straws with a horse raddish sauce (huge portion) Then we had steak, Mac and cheese, Corn and a salad. I LOVED the Mac and cheese so creamy and cheesy 🧀😋 I also liked my house salad because it had that good, good Ranch. You know the Ranch that you ate in school on you Pizza lol. I can not leave out the rolls with honey butter. The steak was cooked perfect my husband ordered medium.Yumm!! You guys did get 5 Stars 🌟 it was earned! Now the not so nice stuff that management should see... 1. Need to fix that leak in the ceiling. 2. The staff needs some training on being FRIENDLY. I get that it's "work" for them but this is pleasure for the guests. We were so excited to be eating out with our friends. The mood went from a 10 to a 2 real fast. The young ladies at the front were not very friendly. I asked if they sweep up the peanut shells every night. The staff member was like "uh -yeah". I guess I should have known that?! 😅 I honestly feel bad for our waitress and maybe she was having a bad day? I don't know but if she acts that way at every table I do not know how she is making any money. I really do not believe that this is the best job for her. You guys need to put Patricia in the back away from people. I think she would be a better fit cooking, making drinks, rolling silverware. I think she is very straightforward but it comes across as rude and impatient. I still gave 5 stars because other than staff it was amazing.
