I’ve gone here every week since I moved into town for a milkshake. I bring my entire family here every couple weeks for ice cream. Today I had one of the worst encounters I’ve had with a business in years. My whole family got ice cream and my wife got a flavor that tasted off it just wasn’t very good. I brought it up to the server and asked for a replacement of vanilla. The smug server said he could replace it for $5. I told him my wife didn’t like the flavor and honestly I tried it and it just wasn’t good. He told me it’s not their problem if we don’t like what we order. I asked for the manager and a young girl came out claiming she was the manager and said the same thing. I asked if they valued me as a customer and isint it important that me and my family leave happy. She did not care one bit. I asked to speak with the owner. She said the owner was not available this week. I run a local business as well and this is not a chain place but a community ice cream shop. I would think that the owner would want to hear how the employees are treating people in the local community that frequent their business. It was overall just a very bad experience from employees who have not learned how to give customers a great experience. Its one thing to not replace an item if you don’t want to, it another to make the customer feel stupid and act like they have a problem that’s...
Read moreMy son, nephew, and I were told by a local police officer (in passing) that this was the best ice cream place in Poquoson. We just moved here from San Antonio, Tx and was excited to try the place out. Upon walking in, we were not greeted by the 6 employees who were standing around and talking. The aesthetics of the establishment is cute, modern, and has plenty of places to sit. As we stood next to the ice cream, not one person came over to assist. Maybe they thought we were deciding - not sure. I had to walk over and ask if I were to order at the counter or by the ice cream. My nephew asked the cashier if he could add sprinkles to his float and she did not respond (but added sprinkles). The place was cute but the customer service is lackluster. I chalked it up to a new generation of customer service and thanked them for the ice cream and left. This place has obviously been around awhile and reviews are mixed with customer service. I won’t say I won’t be back, but it’s definitely still room for...
Read moreReally nothing special here, just the usual fixings. It’s about as good of an ice cream shop it can be while still serving only hersheys. That’s sad to me, but they do a couple unique things that not every ice cream shop does, like malt or coffee milkshakes, which is pretty cool. The environment is fun, and definitely good for kids. Prices feel a little high, but that’s expected for your typical ice cream shop. I did see that they won a Coastal VA Reader’s Choice award for best ice cream shop on the peninsula, which in my mind was unexpected. They fit the bill for the only ice cream shop for about four miles, and they make the best of it, but objectively they are far from my first choice. But keep doing your thing Bean’s,...
