UPDATE SEE AT BOTTOM: Thought I had died and gone to heaven when my friends and I found this amazing diner. Had the best bacon cheese burger and real homemade fries I’ve ever had. I loved them so much I went and had it again a few days later! Then on one night we ordered the fresh baked bread and dipping oil to go. That in itself was a meal and I would recommend it to anyone. The waitresses are super nice and service is wonderful. If you are ever in Poquoson I’d make sure to stop and eat here!
UPDATE. Cancel what I said above, I've gone back two more times to give them a (second try) I don't know if the cook who fixed our food the first time quit or what, but it's been terrible since. On the second try, my friend ordered the gyro and it had no more than a teaspoon of tzatziki sauce. When she ask for more they were going to charge her fifty cents. Another person ordered the berry salad, and no joke it came out with 2 just 2 strawberries! They said they were sorry and would give her a choice of chicken or shrimp for free. She said shrimp, the girl came back and said I'm sorry I can only do the chicken. You'd have to pay for the shrimp. It gets worse. She waited for that piece of grilled chicken for over 30 min. While the rest of us had our food. Then when it came out it was so thin you could have read the menu through it. We had already waited for more than 45 mins for our food. When we got home and was looking at our bill, we saw where they had charged us for the chicken. Never again am I walking...
Read moreWe used to love Poquoson Diner. The food is awesome; really great comfort food and good coffee. The service, however, was so poor that we wont be returning. Our food took over an hour to come, albeit they were short-staffed but didn't tell us until 40 minutes after ordering. My order was also incorrect (missing hot peppers), and it took nearly 10 minutes for a manager to bring them over. At that point I didn't want to wait for my food to get cold, so I ate my dish anyway (still delicious though!). We asked to speak to a manager, and she assured us that our meal would be comped ("I'll take care the bill for you"). My husband and I both had the understanding that this meant we wouldn't have to pay for our meal. Our waitress then came up and said that we were receiving 50% off instead. We then expressed our confusion to the waitress, and she rudely asked us what our issue was. We explained what the manager had told us, and she went to speak with her again. She then told us that the bill was taken care of and to have a great day (again, her tone was kinda rude).
I can be understanding of being short-staffed. But the rudeness and miscommunication that we received seemed really uncalled for, especially since it was the restaurant's side for making the experience unpleasant. Maybe they were having an off day, but it shouldn't reflect that poorly onto...
Read moreWe didn't get a chance to be seated. This was our first time in this restaurant. I felt the hostess yelling all over the diner that we have "GOT TO" go sit in the foyer or go to our car but she cannot have all these people inside the door. (There was 5 of us). Then another group came in after we were on the list to be seated, when this hostess ask my daughter if she was the "name" group and this lady jumps out to say, YES. WE CALLED!!! As if we were jumping in first when no one was speaking to her. So the hostess "told" us to go back to the foyer or to our car and seated the other group. I felt totally disrespected and embarrassed by the way she was loudly voicing the entire experience in the dining room. We decided to leave. We felt unwelcomed and did not want to stay there any longer. But we found a really nice place instead. The server was awesome, they were very friendly at the door as well as super polite for us having to wait. Food was excellent and I rate as a 5 star. So ty poqouson diner for...
